Create your own new music!

For awhile now I have been experiencing poor quality from the speakers and headphones on my computer. I decided to go into Sound Effects Manager and attempt to improve the sound quality. Believe me my friends , I'm no techy or sound engineer!

I tampered with the equalizer, resetting the volumes to the highest peak and even altered the KEY (whatever that is) in the Sound Effects section. It has something to do with the Voice I think..lol

I changed it from 0 which was the default to a +4 and off I went to play about 40 tracks or so from my Windows Media Player Library.

I dozed off as I sometimes do after supper and lo and behold I had new music on my player!!!...lol....by elevating the KEY to +4 I got an entire new sound for my instrumental stuff, a female voice singing every track on Revolver and on Lambchop's Mister M album !!!!....(very good Indie group by the way from Nashville..alt country and a laid back folkish sound from this year ...a must buy for me..without the female vocals !!!...lol) It wasn't a "chipmunks" voice or a fast speedy vocal..actually it sounded pretty good...lol

I may just leave it at +4 for awhile to hear 40 more new tracks !!!..lol...since then I finally figured the problem out and reset the voice KEY to 0. Now all is well with the original vocals.

So I inadvertently made some new sounds. I'm wondering if this is a very very small snippet of recording engineer tweaking? Our esteemed member Jerome is the sound engineering expert!

I had to share this with you all as it has never happened before!!!!

Oh by the way, my speakers and earbuds have a much improved sound quaility now at KEY 0 and KEY +4 !

Neither do I ? lol...Basically I tampered with the voice settings for my Windows Media Player..by mistake and it created new female vocals on the tracks that were supposed to be male. Clear as mud, right !

Ah, you learned how to pitch-shift the entire thing.

Try it with these songs (I'll stick to oldies):

Harry Chapin - Taxi
Minnie Ripperton - Loving You
Rush - Tom Sawyer
any Yes song.

And one for going downward (-7 is good):

Velvet Underground - All Tomorrow's Parties
any Nico song, come to think of it.
Crash Test Dummies songs are good for going downward too.
