some really cool album covers on that page SteveO...
if I was just looking through a discount bin and saw some of these covers I would definitely buy purely for the cover.

ELVIS PRESLEY  with the ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA "the wonder of you"  cd,  2016:

second such album recorded with the RPO, the previous was "if I can dream" released a year earlier...
so, Presley's original master vocals with some instrumentation of the original versions combined with
additional instrumentation from the RPO....
both of these albums reached #1 on the UK charts and were certified platinum over there, proving once again
that his legacy is bigger in the UK than the US...
good song selection for the album also,...
not an album for the casual listener, more of a novelty really, but for a diehard an this is essential purchasing
and Priscilla knows just how loyal Presley fans are to their musical idol....
a thrd instalment s=was released recently, a Christmas album featuring the RPO...
my guess is a fourth instalment will appear next year and that will be a gospel album!

the only reason this album was put in the classical thread is because it charted on classical charts...

The calm after the storm - now that the chaos of Christmas has passed, we can get back to some normality. I have a 4CD set of classical pieces called Silence and Silence 2 which are absolutely perfect for chilling out with after you have finally evicted the last guest with a wee dram of whatever was left in the booze cabinet. I am no expert on classical music but this collection just does it for me. A magnificent selection of tracks on these four discs. HIGHLY recommended if you don't mind some classical music once in a while. 47 pieces in all. Everyone from Verdi to Vivaldi, Grieg to Gluck, Puccini to Pachelbel, Beethoven to Bizet, Williams to Wagner, Mozart to Mascagni and plenty, plenty more. And to think I picked this up about 9 or 10 years ago simply because I liked the cover - dolphins in a deep blue sea. For once someone got the CD artwork 100% spot on!

A compilation of Edith Piaf classics - a double CD I bought on one of my trips to Paris. Every now and then I take a detour off the well-beaten path of rock music and listen to something different. Today is one of those days. The rain is pouring down and the mood is just perfect for a trip down memory lane.

Last Exit to Brooklyn by Mark Knopfler. Not often a rock guitarist gets to write something in a classical vein that is this beautiful. Just love this track.

i have "screenplaying", a compilation of tracks from Cal, Local Hero, Last Exit To Brooklyn and The Princess Bride...

the three from LETB are the one you posted Jerome and "a love idea" and "victims"

as far as a rock muso writing classical music, he is on par with McCartney IMO

I've been listening to this intriguing mix of West African music and jazz but noone seems to be able to tell me what it is!
