BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS "burnin' " cd, 1973
from the "island records box set"...
their sixth, second on Island Records label...
still struggling to make waves in the charts...
does contain the two known songs "i shot the sheriff" and "get up, stand up"...
nothing not to like on here and three or four i love,
again, the problem i have with it is the fact its reggae and reggae is reggae, period...
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
an all time fave of his for me:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

Gustaf Ljunggren with Skúli Sverrisson – Floreana
Probably best described as ambient jazz with moments of (almost) modern classical! I dunno tbh - one of those that defies precise definition. It was a good listen IMHO - instrumental with plenty of air and interest - melodic, minimal to a degree, calm and unhurried without being boring. It's a funny thing - there is a such a fine line between pedestrian and not, and now that I think of it, between meditative and just plain banal.
Ljunggren is a multi-instrumentalist and Sverrisson is a much lauded Icelandic bassist who's played with some notables - Laurie Andersen, Lou Reed, Bill Frisell and Ryuichi Sakamoto to name a few. The album was released in May 2022. I'm sure this is one of those that you can get to know properly in time, and enjoy the process (in the same way as I am now thoroughly acquainted with Roger Eno's
The Turning Year - this album is kinda in that category, to me). On my wishlist!

Nightnoise - Billy Oskay and Mícheál Ó Domhnaill
Don't really know where this belongs - chamber jazz with Celtic influences? A record I picked up mostly for the cover and also because it's a Windham Hill release and I find I like a lot of music published by that label. All instrumental ...

Trawling around Bill Miller's music today. Just felt like hearing these sorts of sounds. "The Storm" appears to be a new track and I couldn't find it anywhere other than on Spotify -
