There's a huge drive towards ditching social media accounts these days. People are tired of being exploited. And you might miss it initially but after a while you start to realise how much time you have 'wasted on the way'. I'm glad to be rid of mine.

Oh yes, I also only check my mobile once a day. Sometimes only once a week. Could not be bothered carrying the bloody thing around all the time. As a result, people who would have texted me numerous times in a single day don't bother texting at all anymore. Suits me fine. Less crap to deal with.

Technology's great but I don't want to be married to it.

and I'm leaving them behind for the same reasons you mentioned.

Too true - once they have your info there's no escape. Of course FB says they delete your account but they never really do. Just don't log back into the damn thing. And as for mobile phones - I made a call from Ireland to SA for about 10 minutes - 600ZAR! It's criminal.

don't get me started
too late

haven't gone as far as CH, yet
took me months to figure out most of my computer problems were FB related
morning routine has changed
used to be I would bring up FB first, peruse for a bit (too long),
then move on to MD and music listening leaving the FB window up
been having problems for months with pages reloading, videos pausing, and even Spotify pausing
just this past week I started skipping the FB part
like magic, no more of those issues to contend with
I still get on but only after I am done with everything else
FU FB
I hope to make the final break soon
problem is I have family members and that's the only way we communicate
bluntly, best way to know when someone dies

cell phones
ridiculous
no point in having the grandkids over
they spend the entire time on their damn phones
a baby sitting tool for parents
and they have no idea what the kids are doing on there

media in general
so sick of viewing/listening to one thing while they try to get you to do another thing
internet and tv are both guilty
can't watch tv unless it's recorded
sickens me

Damn MH...

sorry for getting you started man...roll one and settle down dude LOL!

yeah, FB is obviously the only way I can contact Major Tim and Scarlett in the US..

if the need arises I will have to reactivate my account, but until then... (as you put it) FU FB

Hey MH, you should turn that 'FU FB' into a T-shirt or bumper sticker. You'll make a million - good one! It's like the old days here on MD.

As for TV (regular channels) - I just don't bother anymore. I have quite a few boxset DVD's that I watch over and over - 'Frasier' being a particular favourite, along with Cheers and Allo, Allo as well. Sometimes Netflix streamed from the phone but never regular television. Endless Dr Phil crap and mindless cookery programs. And don't get me started on crap like 'Britain's Got Talent' - it might have but you sure as hell won't see it on this program! And at the bottom of the barrel there's Love Island.....self-absorbed twenty-something's only intent on getting laid and paid. It's only one step below prostitution.
