God bless you and his family always!!!

Holly

P.S. Kenny Loggins, Linda Ronstadt, Deep Purple, The Osmond Family, and Lynn Anderson are who did the cover copies.

like the above post, many people would not be aware that the Presely mega-hit was actually a cover...
heres the original version from 1927:

and Cyndi Lauper's breakthrough hit was not hers neither...
this, the original predates it by five years, vocalist has an almost Bryan Ferry quality to his voice:

Guns N Roses included this one on their Spaghetti Incident album from 1993, so if you have the album you will know it,
but here is the original version, which incidently, I love

Was just listening to a version of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Offa Rex, on The Queen of Hearts and decided to look up the original. It was written by Ewan McColl for Peggy Seeger - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP8qXnnn4tc - hmmm - not sure I'd like to hear that rendition again!

This version by The Kingston Trio was the first recording after that to reach the mainstream, so to speak ....
