PAUL SIMON "the rhythm of the saints" cd,1990.
ive never really been a big fan of simon apart from the 'graceland' album and maybe half a dozen singles from the 1970s, and never really thought Simon & Garfunkel were anything but okay.....but this album IMO is an absolute classic, was highly praised back in the day but failed to turn the buying publics head as much as it should have...
lots of melencholy tunes here(typical of his music in general), lots of latin and tribal sounds happening also...absolutely love his wordplay here that paints pictures and images, something simon does really well at times...i notice that one Ringo Starr is credited for playing guitar on my favourite track here(i never knew he could do anything except be Thomas The Tank Engine, guess we all have hidden talents LOL)
this is Paul Simon at his best IMO and one of my favourite albums in my collection, great stuff...there may be a few better tracks on Graceland but this is more 'complete'as an album IMO, and im also surprised this one didnt score a bit higher(2.8/2.9)
just one question(probably for Jerome)....
there are numerous instruments here that ive never heard of and would love to know exactly what they are(heres the list)
uakti, euphonium, chicote, gourd, chakeire, sordu, birimbau, baiana guitar, bata and dobro....what the heck are they????
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

“Sgt Pepper did its thing it was the album of the decade, maybe the Century.
It was innovative with great songs, I’m glad I was on it but the ‘White’ album ended up a better album for me.” Ringo Starr
