Never cared for the 2 year run of the tv show, but I did like the music. But then I never cared for the Beatles movies either. Stuff was just
too cheesy for me, even as a teenager. I guess the Monkees were one of the first boy bands. The tides of the british wave were still pounding
the shores but these boys managed to surface. The tv show took them to the top of the music charts and they couldn't even play their assigned
instruments. Four #1 albums in a row here beginning with their debut. This compilation covers most of the hits I remember. Surprised there were
only 3 #1's among the lot. I see album chart listings here, the UK, and Canada, but none for down under. Did they not make it to those shores
CH? Not much in the awards section above. Didn't know the Hit Parade was still around, and that Walk Of Fame thing must be for the tv show.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

ok,
the Monkees' chart placings "down under" ar as follows

three albums made the charts here...

1. "the monkees" 1967................................................chart high #3, spending 34wks on chart
2. "more of the monkees" 1967....................................chart high #4, spending 15wks on chart
3. "the birds, the bees and the monkees" 1968................chart high #5, spending .7wks on chart.

singles:

18 chart hits from 1966 thru 1969
includes 9 Top10 placings and one #1 hit("im a believer") which spent one solitary week on top of the charts, it knocked Tom's "green green grass of home"off the top spot and in return after one week was displaced by that stupid "snoopy vs red baron" song!!!!

hope this gives you some info Music Head.
