yeh, love Nick Cave, i dont like everything he has done in his career, some of it is just too 'out there'. 'dig, lazerus dig' and 'murder ballads' would be my favourite albums, along with both Grinderman albums, seen him live 5 or 6 times, never puts on a bad show. he's one of the most underrated writers around IMO, and there aint no-one else like him

Yeah I get what you're saying. His very early work with The Birthday Party is extremely 'out there'. Dig Lazarus was a great album as is Murder Ballads but my favourite of his would have to be 'Henry's Dream'. If you haven't heard it check it out. Contains many of his best songs for me.
Also that's amazing you've seen him live so many times. I narrowly missed Grinderman at the Barrowlands recentley. Hope to catch him eventually!

i remember the first time i saw Birthday Party on our weekly music show 'countdown', the host Ian 'molly' meldrum said "this band is 20yrs ahead of his time"....in hindsight he was 100% correct about Nick Cave.
a note for Gryphon: Molly Meldrum was an employee at Apple Records, stayed friends with Bealtes, still is to this day, he went to John,Linda and Georges funerals, also has #9 of 'the white album.

To have number 0000009 of the white album must make her quite special as 0000001 to 5 were internal only John , Paul, George, Ringo and GM ! 6 and 7 went to Derek Taylor and Neil Aspinal....................I believe! Don'y know who has 8 ?????
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )

Molly is the nickname of Ian Meldrum, he has shown it on tv several times, usually when interviewed when one of them dies, and to be at the three of three funerals so far,he must be respected and/or liked by them.
also Madonna rarely gives interviews, as we all know, yet Meldrum seems to get a lot of exclusives with her also. he was one of the witnesses when Elton married his wife in Australia in the 1980s etc etc...if theyve made it, he is friends with them.
