So we all know what 'prog' music is. We all know what progressive rock is.
My attention is focusing on something else. In history, I am doing a project on new age Progressivism, focusing mainly on music of the new frontier. What will the future of music will look like? What is "progressive" music now (and i don't just mean prog rock or techno, i mean anything that you believe will be the new wave, or is the new wave).
What do you think it is?

Everyone's opinion on this is different, and I want to hear everyone's take.::

Hello, there!!

Don't know if anybody will remember me, but I used to be a member of the old Music Discussion website. I didn't post often - rarely, in fact - but I used to browse people's posts.

Then the site seemed to disappear. Well now it's back, and so am I.

So are lyricists a rare breed nowadays? Maybe they're the shy type?

Anyhow, it looked a tad lonely down here so I thought I'd start with something a little neutral. Maybe a question or two.

1.) What is your favourite lyric of all time? [That can be a line, a verse, song you name it.]

2.) If you write lyrics, or have ever written them, which other songwriters do you see most in your work? [i.e. your style, how direct you are, the subject matter you cover, that sort of thing]

I can't imagine too many of you guys are on here at this hour, but I thought since it was recommended I would introduce myself.

I'm Rhys, 18 and from South Wales. I've played guitar for a good number of years now, although I don't think I'll ever be some kind of Hendrix or anything. My music taste has remained pretty steady for a number of years, though I've picked up a few new influences on the way.

I'm not sure how this is meant to be done, but I'll give a small list of my favourite artists and bands just so you know whereabouts I fit on the musical spectrum.

Radiohead
Bloc Party
The White Stripes
Joanna Newsom
The Smiths
David Bowie
Cat Power
Muse
R.E.M.

Ok, so I look forward to talking to you guys.

I just want to know if anyone like lost i am a hugh fan and can't wait till Jan 31 for season four. any thought or comment about this show

Hey guys! I'm new here and just wanted to introduce myself and some
stuff i like. Hope that I can learn about new music along the way.

I love love love music, and I'm into classic rock and alternative
rock. My favorite bands include Jet, Wolfmother, and Jimi Hendrix. I'm
currently into this band called The Black Summer Crush. They're kinda
a mix of the beatles and the who, and they have a pretty raw sound
that I never heard before. Check out their myspace, and tell me what
you think. Hope to hear from you all soon!

I have a hard time defining which genre John Dahlbacks tunes are - I would say sort of tech house but he seems to release about 50 thousand tracks a week so its hard to pin it down - any suggestions? Btw John Dahlbacks tune "hugges theme" is one of my absolute all time faves - menacing!!

Note: For all those members that live in Eastern European countries, when I refer to nightclubs I mean a place for lots of people to gather, drink, dance, listen to music, and party into the night. I do not mean brothels. You go to those after the nightclubs. :innocent:

My favourite nightclub would have to be 'The Honey Club' in Brighton. Close to where I live.

For me, it was 'The Beatles', given to me by dad for christmas when I was around 10. Great album and still have it today.

What about everyone else?

Are there any recent films out with Mike Myers in? I like his role in Austin Powers.
