No doubt many tried to lay claim to it . Like many think he is still alvie . I don't myslef . just checking through old posts and found this one... there is/was enough evidence from sources close to Elvis and released FBI files that Elvis was most certainly alive after August 16th 1977... basically..... the most credible evidence from the FBI files is that Elvis was a victim of extortion from various crime gangs/mafia bosses from 1974-77...Elvis was wiretapped by the FBI to get evidence for a conviction, and according to the FBI files he was sent into witness protection for his own safety...witness protection means "given new identity" to escape from your old life etc.... to see how it is done watch the Schwatzenegger movie "eraser". credible evidence from the FBI files also states that he died in the late 1980s from complications associated with diabetes/heart/liver failure. also, not one of his life insurance policies were not cashed in until the late 1980s...if that had happened in 1977 and Elvis was proven to be alive, the persons cashing in the policies would have faced US Federal felony charges. also, his headstone spells his name incorrectly, his headstone reads Elvis Aron Presley, whereas his middle name is spelled Aaron on his birth certificate and on his signature when he signs his name correctly.... thus, why would his family allow a misspelled name on the most headstone of the most recognisable artist in the history of popular music to remain unchecked...the answer is, they wouldnt, they were complicit to the FBI dealings with Presley 100% for their protection also! i believe this is the case as i have studied the rumours surrounding his death for over three decades now.
