NME "top singers" poll - CRAZY-HORSE - 24-06-2011 some weeks ago the NME-online site started a poll with 100 singers they listed and asked for people to rate each vocalist a mark out of 10, many hundreds of thousands of votes were cast and the official list has just been released. not many surprises in the list and i guess we could all disagree with some of them, but a good list anyway: Matt Bellamy from Muse was the only singer within the Top 20 to have emerged in the past 25 years. He made Number 11. Meanwhile, Aretha Franklin landed at Number 10, making her the only woman in the Top Ten. As the chart stands, nine of the Top 20 are dead. THe reason I say that is I wonder who has ever really heard John sing ? Most of his recordings were laden with echo and John always mixed his voice down in the mix................The only time I have ever heard him sing is on Bootlegs and demos .................
