top 100 blues guitarists - Big Ears - 25-01-2015 Jools Holland's show isn't all bad. I remember seeing Eels, around the Souljacker time, and they were better than on the album. The drummer was outstanding. top 100 blues guitarists - CRAZY-HORSE - 26-01-2015 i just like the fact that new upcoming bands/artists can rub shoulders on the same set as legends and established artists on the Jools show... for those who dont know, Jools has five sometimes six guests on the show... there may be an artist like Townshend/Who,Dave Gilmour,Robert Plant,McCartney etc followed by the likes of Weller,Nick Cave,Adele,P!nk etc then newer bands like say Ed Sheeran,Killers,Imelda May followed by newer artists like George Ezra,Meghan Trainor then a so-called 'world artist' or a totally new artist getting their first tv break... theyre all on the same stage and watch eachother perform in turn... would be awesome and sometimes daunting for a 'newer artist' to be performing while the l ikes of McCartney etc are watching them... im pretty sure i discovered Killers,Stereophonics and Imelda May on "later...with jools" many years ago, so that said, i like the exposure i get to artists ive never heard of... and also, theres no lip-syncing, its all totally "live"... top 100 blues guitarists - CRAZY-HORSE - 26-01-2015 another very good music show i watch is Elvis Costello's "spectacle"... he has one artist on a show... they talk about music and play songs throughout the hour show... its not only good to see the likes of Springsteen discussing his career with Costello but also seeing Costello jam and duet with the guest artists. and being a muso himself,Costello gets into the nitty-gritty of their music without stupid questions. top 100 blues guitarists - jazzboCR - 26-01-2015 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:another very good music show i watch is Elvis Costello's "spectacle"... For more on this, here's his Website (guest list on the opening page): http://www.elviscostello.info/wiki/index.php/Spectacle:_Elvis_Costello_with...Too obviously jokey show title but otherwise... top 100 blues guitarists - CRAZY-HORSE - 26-01-2015 IMO the episodes with Springsteen,Smokey Robinson and Kristofferson stood out.... So if you ever get the chance...... top 100 blues guitarists - Big Ears - 26-01-2015 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:i just like the fact that new upcoming bands/artists can rub shoulders on the same set as legends and established artists on the Jools show... Any live music is better than none at all, CH, I just wish there was a show that concentrated on rock music (before I shuffle off this mortal coil). top 100 blues guitarists - jazzboCR - 26-01-2015 Big Ears Wrote:Jools Holland's show isn't all bad. And, yes, that skins man killed. top 100 blues guitarists - Big Ears - 26-01-2015 I don't think that was it Jazzbo, but it's difficult to tell. You've certainly got the time, but they played on the show several times in the early noughties (around four times). Thanks for trying though. I think this was it: top 100 blues guitarists - Ralph N. Norton - 29-01-2015 I don't know about all of them, but I heard about some of them. they are Albert King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Mike Bloomfield and Peter Green. Peter Green is my favorite in all of them. top 100 blues guitarists - jazzboCR - 29-01-2015 Ralph N. All those gents are sterling; all play in modes that some of the others do. Do yourself a favor and every once in a while as the spirit moves, check out some of the other artists listed--that's why they were listed and with expanded listings. Knowledge is power...and joy. |
