Former member of UGK, which I have never heard, but that's his fame. Formed in Texas, UGK had to hang it up after member Pimp C was sentenced to 8 years on an aggravated gun assault charge. That's when Bun B started his solo career. This is the third album in that endeavor. UGK did briefly reform after Pimp C was paroled, only to die in 2008. I don't know, died suddenly is all it says. Prbably one of those gangsta diseases. A couple of tracks I liked on the album, but far outweighed by the other side. A lot of those featured artists, the most prominent being the now hot Drake. That should sell a few.
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

Not usually big on Hip/Hop or Rap but this group totally changed that for me. ArtOfficial fuse Hip Hop with Jazz music & is a group that everyone needs to hear IMO- lyrics to this song are just perfect:

Never a big Isleys fan, they were ok. Good soul/funk from that era. Temptations couldn't be equaled. Isleys were formed way back in the 50's in Cincinnati, Ohio and are most noted for the hits Shout and Twist & Shout. You won't find those on this collection, as this does not include those Motown years. The Isley left Motown to form their own label of T-Neck Records. Seems like that's when the decline began. Not really much of a hits package here with only 8 songs total. I only remember 2 of those songs being anywhere close to a hit. Those would be That Lady and It's Your Thing. Both of them are ok, but Between The Sheets gets my vote for some smooth r&b. I don't care much for the r&b of today, but this was good stuff. Hendrix toured with the Isley band back in to 60's and is said to have some influence on their later work. The only way I can see that is some guitar jams. Don't think the Isleys really had any hits after what appears on this, so would there be a Volume 2? Didn't look to see but there probably was.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
Worst Track - Fight The Power
Best Track - Between The Sheets
Hey girl, ain't no mystery at least
As far as I can see
I wanna keep you here layin' next to me
Sharin' our love between the sheets
Ooh baby baby, I feel your love surrounding me
Ohh ohh ooh, baby baby, makin' love between the sheets
Ooh girl, let me hold you tight
And you know I'll make you feel alright
Oh baby girl, just cling to me and let your mind be free
While makin' love between the sheets
Ooh girl, I'll love you all night long
And I know you felt it comin' on
Ooh darlin', just taste my love, ooh you taste so sweet
Sharin' our love between the sheets
Ooh baby baby, I feel your love surrounding me
Ohh ohh ooh, baby baby, makin' love between the sheets
Hey girl, what's your fantasy?
I'll take you there to that ecstasy
Ooh girl, you blow my mind, I'll always be your freak
Let's make sweet love between the sheets
Ooh baby baby, I feel your love surrounding me
Ohh ohh ooh, baby baby, makin' love between the sheets
Ooh baby baby, I feel your love surrounding me
Ohh ohh ooh, baby baby, makin' love between the sheets
Enough of the singin'
Let's make love
In between the sheets
Ohh ohh, I like the way you receive me
Girl, I love the way you relieve me
I'm comin' on, comin' on strong
Sweet darlin', in between the sheets
Ohh ohh, I like the way you receive me
Girl, I love the way you relieve me
Comin' on, comin' on strong
Sweet darlin', in between the sheets
You got me moanin'
Girl, you got me groanin'
I'm comin' on, comin' on strong
Sweet darlin', in between the sheets
Let's get all the way down
Turn it over
I'm comin', comin', comin' on strong
Sweet darlin', in between the sheets

What Are You Listening To? - Thraak - 05-09-2010
Nice track from what many consider his finest solo album. I personally can't comment cos' it's the only one I got but it is a very good album. Reminds me a lot of Paul Weller and listening to Traffic recentley, Im starting to think that Steve Winwood's vocal style and even the way he phrases certain lyrics bore a heavy influence upon Weller.

What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 05-09-2010
you are corrcet mr.soul, winwood did have a direct influence on paul weller. actually weller wanted a 'guest' keyboardist on 'stanley road',from memory it was the 'time passes' track, steve winwood was his first choice, a lot of mutual respect there,me thinks! a lot of mutual respect with 'van the man' morrison also.
getting back to steve winwood tho, i love spencer davis group, traffic also, only have a couple of his albums and a best of set, also the 'live' set with clapton(that is brilliant)
What Are You Listening To? - Thraak - 06-09-2010
Ah yeah of course I totally forgot about that! I havent heard Spencer Davis Group or Go but I got a Traffic album the other day for a fiver & it's very good. Think it's their second one. Also the live set with Clapton, are you on about the recent album they recorded at Madison Square Gardens? I found the album as a whole a bit patchy but certain parts of it are outstanding.

70's soul/funk doesn't get any better than the Godfather. A lot of compilations out there and this one pretty much sums it up for me. Can't think of any hit that is not on here. My first recall is Papas Got A Brand New Bag, but I think there were a few prior to that. Sure was tough to pick a favorite. Would depend on the mood I guess. JB could do it all and in his day there was no equal. MJ was the perfect student. Except for that beatin' your wife thing, he was a stand up guy. Good God!
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
Worst Track - Night Train
Best Track - It's A Man's Man's Man's World
This is a man's world, this is a man's world
But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl
You see, man made the cars to take us over the road
Man made the trains to carry heavy loads
Man made electric light to take us out of the dark
Man made the boat for the water, like Noah made the ark
This is a man's, a man's, a man's world
But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl
Man thinks about a little baby girls and a baby boys
Man makes then happy 'cause man makes them toys
And after man has made everything, everything he can
You know that man makes money to buy from other man
This is a man's world
But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl
He's lost in the wilderness
He's lost in bitterness
