Bachman Turner Overdrive are still very popular up here in the Great White North! A somewhat spring off of The Guess Who, Canada's first super group!
jazzboCR Wrote:You underserve these guys quite a bit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bachman%E2%80%93Turner_Overdrive Mr. Bachman was a sound invitee to Peter Frampton's Guitar Circus revue and has a solid channel on XMSirius, as well as BTO music thingies: http://bachmanandturner.com/btmain.php
Memories are tricky things, aren't they? Frequently not to be relied upon too much.

They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday, after lunch...if memory serves me correct???, LOL

I agree they did not last long in the UK and later became figures of fun for 'comedians' poking fun at rock music, but I preferred them to Guess Who and their Best Of (1998) compilation is a pretty good collection of tracks. My favourite BTO track is Blue Collar from the first album.

I like the singing on Gimme Your Money Please, whereas Blue Collar has a great guitar sound:

This is definitely not recent, but I think it is the best thing by a Canadian musican ever. You can hear the Jimi Hendrix influences, but Pat Travers was a very unorthodox guitar player.

Yes I hear the Hendrix influence! Here's a Canadian band that has Hendrix written all over it,,,as you already know!

Yes, that is a briliant track and Frank Marino was only about 19 when it was recorded. I don't know how he got that backwards sound because the notes are in tune.

Reminiscent of Iron Maiden's power metal, Victoria's 3 Inches of Blood are at the top of their game on this album...not much growling, a lot of clean vocals from the tremendous voice of Cam Pipes (aptly named) and great musicianship! Here's a track from their latest offering...the Long Live Heavy Metal album!
