[quote=gryphon]^^ A great choice to listen too......................I have always loved Harry C's story songs.........When I used to work in radio as a jock I used to play his W.O.L.D an awful lot .............it was such a great record...........sadly he never really enjoyed mainline success in the UK ...................Sad to hear that he passed away in a car accident...............don't think we will see his like of storytellersongwriter again for along timeAngelAngel:cool2:[/QUOT,E]

Yet another from my current flavour of the month.

Almost entirely instrumental - as is their wont - and another largely soothing and reflective disc.

I'm finding it hard to fault any of their output thus far...

A few great songs back in the day but none to be found here, for me anyway. Never much of an album band, a best of would be the best way to go. Formed in 1968 in California, looks like they hung it up around 1976, only to return for the oldies circuit. Most of their hits were covers. This is their seventh album, and they were on the downside of their career. This one did reach #26 in the states, with Shambala at #3. Don't think they ever had any success across the pond.

I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Singer Man

Best Track - Let Me Serenade You

I will serenade you, all along the way
I will serenade you, anyway you say
Take you to the country, I'll take you to the shore
Show you to my garden, I know you'll make it grow

If you let me serenade you
You know that's what you come for
So that I will serenade you

I wake you in the morning, on your sunrise time
Your fire in the evening when it blows outside
If you let me serenade you, you know that's what you come for.
So that I will serenade you.

And when the walls begin to fall
Can't hold back the joy
That love will conquer all

Every moment, every day
If you want to hold me I will, I will, I will, I will stay
Let me serenade you, I will serenade
If you want to hold me, yeah, one more, one more now
Every body keep a singing, I sing it
I really love you baby
I will serenade you, I will serenade you
All along the, whoa
Let me sing it, whoa
I will sing a
I will serenade you, baby
I will serenade you
No, no, no, no

With Lowell now past his best, this is regarded as part of the band's decline, but I still think it's a very good album.

Standard LF fare, and it even strays into Steely Dan territory, which is no bad thing.

The last Enid album for the time being.

Another quasi-classical instrumental affair, with each track serving as a musical profile of each the members of the band.

Not a clip available says something about the popularity of this album. I did rate is slightly above his previous one I posted, which also had no clips. This is his sixth album, still trying to find that elusive follow up hit to Dream Weaver, his only success. I do love the spacey Time Machine on here, but that was it. Most of Gary's material was synth based which never did much for me. Surprisingly this album did reach #23 in the states. Probably that Dream Weaver crowd. I guess that included me since I have it. Phantom Writer was the single, which reached #43.

MEMORY ALMOST FULL- Paul McCartney

not really much can be said about a Paul McCartney, its simply a Paul McCartney album....but a very good one at that. it is his 21st studio album since the beatles split.
the songs are mainly reflective of his life, from school, to the cavern club, to his enduring love of linda. the album was recorded around 2004 but not released until 2007, paul prefering to release the grammy award winning album 'chaos and creation in the backyard' in 2005 instead. His melodies here are as good as anything he has done since the beatles breakup, there are touches of the beatles and wings in most tracks, but hey, if anyone should be allowed to do them, why not the guy who was there in the beginning. one song 'the end of the end' details how paul would like to be remembered when he dies, fondly, no less.
the album reached #3 in the US charts and #5 in the UK charts, selling 1.5million copies worldwide, maybe it was a flop by a beatles standards, but most artists would be proud of sales in excess of 1mill.
it was the first album to be released on starbucks label 'hearmusic'

First musical output for many years from ex-Enid guitarist Francis Lickerish.

This is an album of Folk-Prog-Rock of a peculiarly English style. Lots of myth & legend woven through the music.

Can't help but sound a tad Enidish, but also has plenty of non-Enidishness about it !!
