The Track I'm Listening To Is....................... - Ruby - 24-11-2014

The title track from Eye in the Sky, by The Alan Parsons Project.

Three versions - the original - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1IXQ1pKl_Q - I quite like Noa’s version - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7XItYQZfRE, and Asia featuring John Page what a mouthful’s version! The great AP himself appears in this video, as the ‘eye’ –

Anyone else having problems with the EDIT feature? I am finding that sometimes there is nothing there to edit but it comes back to normal later??? Time to call the Tech Man!

Joe Jackson is an underrated artist, I think. I haven’t heard Jumpin’ Jive for many years and listening to it now, am astonished that he had the vision and the confidence to release it at least a decade and then some before the swing revival caught hold – and that it was so well received at the time (1981) by a really young audience. Comprising covers of swing and jump blues, I’m not crazy about this style of music, but I do recognise and appreciate skill and versatility. What really strikes me is that this sounds so ‘clean’. Incidentally, he was responsible for the production and arrangement. Time to revisit some of his other stuff! Here’s ‘Tuxedo Junction’ -

Agreed about Joe Jackson and here's the Thread in which he could be expanded: http://www.music-discussion.com/showthread.php/15929-championing-the-unheralded-an-ongoing-thread Feeling adventurous?

im not a big fan of Jackson...most of his material bores me to tears but around 79-81 he did make a few very, very good singles....
his "real men" ballad is sublime IMO, one of the best from that period of music!.

Definitely one of my favourite guitarists,,,from John Scofield's album Hand Jive!

I wasn't familiar so I listened. Thrice. I'm enthralled. Here it is twice--concert and studio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aj9yd-LdLCM << 1 of 17 songs from (presumably) the Sydney Opera House and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwHvnUcUICw
OK so my OCD kicked in--here's that song on solo piano, to a rapturous audience--little tease on the end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZv7xT9wNTY << commenter Rigby Lane's got it right....
