What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 13-12-2010 Tonight I am going to cast my mind back all the way to PF's 'Obscured by Clouds'. Come to think of it the first time I heard this I probably was obscured by clouds....... What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 13-12-2010 To be followed by Lee Clayton's 'Naked Child' - a memoir from my wild-child past. The volume is going to 11 tonight. I have had enough of bloody work and it's time to blow the cobwebs away. And probably what's left of my hair as well. What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 13-12-2010 By the way those lyrics of 'Riders on the Storm' reminds me of just how unusual this guy was. I used to date a girl many moons ago who went to visit his grave. She was obviously a fan. She got there early one morning. There was some biker guy and two hookers at his grave - all loaded. It takes all types to make an icon! What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 13-12-2010 Tiggi Wrote:^ There's definitely something about LA Woman that I really like. I love it. Bought it when it came out as I was a huge Doors fan. Didn't like the way it was made with Morrison having no input. But it grew on me fast. Wish I had it handy to review now. Somewhere in those 30 boxes. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 14-12-2010 from my library (vinyl) ![]() Aha! I found one. My Elvis collection is very bare. A five album box set covers the hits pretty well. Other than that, a few gospel and this soundtrack is all I can recall being buried in the boxes. My musical experience began in the early sixties, and was swept away with that british invasion thing that happened around then. I would not appreciate the talents of the king until later in life. Too late to go back without the sacrifice of what was current. A teenagers allowance doesn't go that far. Not sure where I picked this one up. One of his best movies they say. The highlight is obvious with Can't Help Falling In Love. A few throwaways are also apparent with any soundtrack. The album went to the top of the charts here with that single at #2 and Rock-A-Hula Baby at #23. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Ito Eats Best Track - Can't Help Falling In Love Wise men say only fools rush in But I can't help falling in love with you Shall I stay Would it be a sin If I can't help falling in love with you Like a river flows surely to the sea Darling so it goes Some things are meant to be Take my hand, take my whole life too For I can't help falling in love with you Like a river flows surely to the sea Darling so it goes Some things are meant to be Take my hand, take my whole life too For I can't help falling in love with you For I can't help falling in love with you 1) Blue Hawaii - ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4F5dbiaITw 2) Almost Always True - * video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQaMfgsIaWY 3) Aloha Oe - * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeLXcHWxjkQ 4) No More - ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwmnVgkW0AM 5) Can't Help Falling In Love - *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9rDBohg1yc 6) Rock-A-Hula Baby - ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgDeVqn85GY 7) Moonlight Swim - *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS9h-BoPhpM 8) Ku-u-i-po (Hawaiian Sweetheart) - *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75T6kkXDqOA 9) Ito Eats - * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc4zegSVOzw 10) Slicin' Sand - * video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcHE98PxSbU 11) Hawaiian Sunset - ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3e2xF4b2xs 12) Beach Boy Blues - ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyNEclsmd_8 13) Island Of Love - *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RilIva9usA 14) Hawaiian Wedding Song - ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j32sFbRicKs 3's - 4 2's - 6 1's - 4 Grade - 2.0 What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 14-12-2010 probably The king's last really good movie, im glad your *** made up for the * ratings, as a youngster in 71/72ish i loved this album, it still has fond memories for me as it was the first set of Elvis songs i heard, from then i was hooked on Elvis! What Are You Listening To? - Thraak - 14-12-2010 Another stone cold classic by the Steve Miller Band. Another one I can't get enough of lately. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 15-12-2010 from my library (vinyl) ![]() Their second album and well on the way to superstardom. Graded out surprisingly well with 3 of the 9 tracks getting a top score, with 2 clunkers. Synth pop/rock at it's best I guess. The band would do better in the U.K. than here with this album to #2 there and #6 here. The title track peaked at #14 here and Hungry Like The Wolf at #3. MTV probably made them as big as they became, as I recall the heavy airplay of those tracks. Although their peak was brief, the band is still kicking I think with changes in the lineup. Don't imagine the video for that last clip got aired anywhere. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Last Chance On The Stairway Best Track - The Chauffeur Out on the tar plains. The glides are moving. All looking for a new place to drive. You sit beside me. So newly charming. Sweating dew drops glisten fresh in your side. And the sun drips down bedding heavy behind. The front of your dress all shadowy lined. And the droning engine throbs in time with your beating heart. Way down the lane away. Living for another day. The aphids swarm up in the drifting haze. Swim seagull in the sky. Towards that hollow western Isle. My envied lady holds you fast in her gaze. And the sun drips down bedding heavy behind. The front of your dress all shadowy lined. And the droning engine throbs in time with your beating heart. And the sun drips down bedding heavy behind. The front of your dress all shadowy lined. And the droning engine throbs in time with your beating heart. Sing, Blue Silver. And watching lovers part. I feel you smiling. What glass splinters lie so deep in your mind. To tear out from your eyes. With a thought to stiffen brooding lies. And I'll only watch you leave me further behind. And the sun drips down bedding heavy behind. The front of your dress all shadowy lined. And the droning engine throbs in time with your beating heart. And the sun drips down bedding heavy behind. The front of your dress all shadowy lined. Now that's downright freaky? Are we brothers or what? |
