What Did You Buy? - bob_32_116 - 06-08-2016 ^^ I presume it's the "head" thing, because I cannot think of any other reason to mention Portishead and Radiohead in the same breath. A uni colleague gave me a "mixtape" CD that contained a few Portishead tracks. One of them "The Rip", was very nice, but overall I found them lacking in substance. Ground-breaking trip-hop it may be, but it's music that's just THERE without doing anything for me. As for Radiohead, for many years the only song I knew of theirs was "Creep", which I hate, and that prevented me from going any further until I heard "High and Dry" from The Bends played on radio by, of all people, Jimmy Barnes. Then someone lent me OK Computer and I really liked that, so I got both those albums. Tried Kid A, but it was too "experimental" or something for me, so I passed on that. I heard Hail To the Thief' didn't like that much either. In Rainbows was better, but had nothing that made me feel the need to buy. This new one, though, seems like something really out of the box. What Did You Buy? - Ruby - 20-09-2016 Records .... 10cc - The Original Soundtrack - a replacement, so lucky to find this in mint condition. TANGERINE DREAM - Force Majeure - transparent vinyl, a thing of beauty! mile:What Did You Buy? - Surfacenoise - 22-09-2016 Bought a very battered early Beach Boys hits LP at a charity shop for £1.99 the other day. Other than that I've been too damned broke. Ah, well. Paid tomorrow. What Did You Buy? - SteveO - 25-09-2016 Moon Shaped Pool is fabulous! I prefer to listen to Radiohead music on ear buds! bob_32_116 Wrote:Bought Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool on a whim this week - from a physical record store, which is unusual for me these days. I think I've read enough reviews and heard enough extracts to know that it's a worthy addition to my collection, which makes it the first such since OK Computer. What Did You Buy? - Jerome - 15-10-2016 A music magazine called simply 'Music'. (BBC subsidised) Came with a free CD - Steve Reich's 'The Desert Music' which is playing at the moment and which seems to appeal to my cat (Shit For Brains by name) which has decided to plonk herself right in front of one of the speakers - something she rarely does. I can't really get into this album - maybe it's me who has the brain problem!!!! What Did You Buy? - LMD - 16-10-2016 Rough 2-3 weeks at the office, so stopped into the record store to cheer myself up. Had 5 CD's I had been hoping to find in person (because they're not really albums I cared enough about to go out of my way to specifically order online) + a ridiculously cheap Mellencamp one I had been looking into. Gotta say, pretty excited with how today turned out; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
What Did You Buy? - Jerome - 16-10-2016 So you managed to get your hands on Shango after all! What Did You Buy? - LMD - 16-10-2016 Jerome Wrote:So you managed to get your hands on Shango after all! Haha, yeah. I had grabbed the 4 jazz albums from the jazz section and was about to go pay when I said to myself "I'm here, I might as well check the Santana section and see if they have 'Shango' for once." Was shocked that after ~3 years of checking, the store happened to have it days after I made a comment about not being able to find it. What Did You Buy? - Fairchild - 29-10-2016 Music Head Wrote:Subtitled: Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Last thing I bought was Smashing Pumpkins last record. Good stuff.
