FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD "welcome to the pleasuredome" b/w "happy hi" 1984

i love the full length album version of this but i just cannot understand how and why they edited it down to a three minute song...so im guessing i bought htis one prior to me buying the album of the same name, shame to give this "*" but ive got to as it pales compared to the album!
"b" side isnt too bad neither
single only got to #46 here

ELVIS PRESLEY "special delivery from elvis"-ep 1982

four track ep from ep...LOL
i only got this at the time because it contained three previously unreleased tracks..."britches" and "a cane and a high starched collar" from the Flaming Star movie i believe??, "beyond the reef", a song recorded in the early 1960s and "danny" from King Creole...
Danny is brilliant 1950s rockin Elvis, Britches a lighthearted country style track is also very good, "a cane..." isnt too bad really, very hillbilly sounding,"beyond the reef" could have been recorded and used in one of his hawaiian movies, sort of has thas aloha feel...
single/ep failed to chart here...

Yes indeed Crazy! I wonder whatever happened to Sam? I thought it was a guy the blues guitar player in the Blues Brothers movie!!!!...lol..Never heard this song before and I like it! Great pipes!

CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:SAM BROWN "stop!" b/w "blue soldier" 1988

"blue-eyed, white girl soul" from the UK...
pretty sure she only had this hit and an okay cover of "can i get a witness"...
brilliant ballad from Sam, great voice, just a shame she never prolonged her chart career beyond this...
"b" side isnt bad as far as songs go, but its not a patch on the spectacular "stop"!
single made it to #3 on our chats here

Another true artist in my books! Billy can do no wrong! He releases very good songs...well crafted!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:BILLY BRAGG "levi stubbs' tears" b/w "think again!" & "walk away renee(version)" 1986

one of Billy's best songs is on this single release..."think again!", for which i have posted the brilliant lyrics below...
"a" side is typically great storytelling from Bragg...
"think again!"...you judge for yourself, but this is sonething Dylan could have written IMO
the third track is a spoken word song done to the guitar sounds of the old 'walk away renee' song, all up one of Bragg's best singles IMO...
single failed to chart here...

THINK AGAIN! So you think that the Russians want war
These are the children of parents who died in the last one
Do you think that's possible knowing their past
That they'd ever considered repeating the past
When twenty million were slaughtered by NAZI invasion

They died fighting on our side you know
In a fight to defend human kind from NAZI terror and hatred
In the name of humanity bitter and torn
In the name of our children as yet to be born
Before we do that which can never be undone I beg of you
Think, Think again
and again and again and again and again

Do you think that the Russians want war
These are the children of parents who died in the last one
Do you think that they want to go through that again
The destruction the bloodshed the suffering and pain
In the second wolrd war out of every three dead one was Russian
If we try with all of our power
can we not find a way to peacefully settle our difference

In the name of humanity bitter and torn
In the name of our children as yet to be born
Before we do that which can never be undone I beg of you
Think, Think again
and again and again and again and again

Do you think that the Russians want war
Will the voice of insanity lead you to total destruction
Will you stumble to death as though you were blind
Will you cause the destruction of all human kind
Will you die because you don't like their political system

There will be no survivors you know
No one left to scream in the night and condemn our stupidity

In the name of humanity bitterly torn
In the name of our children as yet to be born
Before we do that which can never be undone I beg of you
Think, Think again
and again and again and again and again

John played here last summer...Unfortunately I didn't go! He did two shows over two nights to sell out crowds before 7,000 fans each night! A true rocker is this guy! R.O.C.K is a fav of mine! Thanks....

CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:JOHN COUGAR-MELLENCAMP "r.o.c.k in the usa" b/w "under the boardwalk" 1986

the "a" side was from the suberb "scarecrow" album, the "b" side is a cover of the old r+b classic...
love the "a"side, almost love the "b" side as surprisingly Mellencamp does do a bloody good version of it!
single made it to #18 here...

I'm a bit out of the loop on this one! Never heard of Paul until you mentioned him before at a concert you saw with one of the Finn Brothers! I like his songs...good rock and the second song Bicentenial was sort of a heavy rock ballad! I can see where he is hard to pin down genre wise!

Is "The Coloured Girls" his band name ?

CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:PAUL KELLY & THE COLOURED GIRLS "to her door" b/w "bicentenial" 1987

pretty hard to describe Kelly???, sort of alt, folk, rock rolled into one, he is a great wordsmith IMO(almost up there with Dylan at times)..
this"a" side is a ricky number of a marraige breakup, "the "B" side is Kelly's tribute to Australia's 'bicentenial' of Capt.James Cook's landing here..
single reached #14 here, thats about as good as Kelly managed here?!

I once met these guys without their makeup! True story! Kiss always had good happy feel songs for the most part!!! I saw them live and they put on a fabulous show!!!!

CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:KISS "talk to me" b/w "naked city" 1980

pretty sure this was the only "A" side that Ace Frehley sang lead vocals on, but i could be wrong???
one of the best songs he ever wrote and sung IMO....
"b" side...its okay i guess, its a Simmons song...
single reached #39 on our charts, probably deserved better but it did spend around five months on the chart

You can hear the strong interplay of Pete's guitar and Keith's thunderous drumming...a sign of things to come! Thanks Crazy...never heard these tunes before...they do an amazing spot on cover of Barbara Ann!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:THE WHO "ready,steady who!"-ep. 1966

a five track 'ep' with songs they played on their 'ready steady who' tv show in the UK in the mid sixties...
nothing brilliant on here, but there is a 'beach boy-esque' 'bucket-t' and a cover of their 'barbara-ann' song..
also, their version of 'batman-theme'...look its not that bad, the boys were letting their hair down and having a bit of fun i guess..
also, two Townshend tracks on here, 'disguises' and 'circles'...theyre okay, nothing special, but it is The Who...
single/ep failed to chart here but did get to #2 on the UK 'ep' charts...

THE STRANGLERS "all day and all of the night" b/w "!viva vlad!" 1984

a cover of the Kinks classic by this psuedo-punks...i like it
"b" side is a spoken piece with music, the character Vladimir in the song is a recurrent one on a few of their albums, like that one also...
all up not a bad single but single failed to chart here(not that they ever had many hits here anyway!)

TIFFANY "feelings of forever" b/w "out of my heart" 1988

the music media called her 'teenage pop queen', back in the day, her big hit as the okay 'i think we're alone now". dont own that one, but this was the followup here..
i shoulda bought that one and not this one, its crap, as is the "B" side, and rightfully so i failed to chart here!
