What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 28-06-2011 SteveO Wrote:ooooooh...very spooky, Tiggi. Maybe after awhile of emailing back and forth there is some sort of telepathic connection ???...I dunno. I'm beginning to think that is the case with all of regulars here What Are You Listening To? - Thraak - 28-06-2011 Great wee instrumental track fae Extreme's fourth album 'Waiting For The Punchline'. Nuno Bettencourt is a great guitarist! What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 01-07-2011 from my library (vinyl) Been a long time since I pulled a PF out of the box. Too bad for me it's one of my relatively low rated albums. I said relatively, so don't get your knickers in a wad. Once again, other than jazz and classical, I'm just not a big fan of instrumental music, which is mostly what this is. I do appreciate it, but not in the same way as vocal performances. This is the bands fifth release. I must confess I did not become a Floyd fanatic until DSOTM. A BFF dragged (hmm...is it dragged or drug?) me in. I reciprocated with Leonard Cohen. When DSOTM came out we worked second shift. When we got off work we would get a bottle of rotgut Thunderbird, sit in his van (windows up), burn a doobie and put on either his Floyd's DSOTM or my Cohen's Songs Of Love And Hate. Came out of the van pretty wasted. Never knew what to blame it on. Those were the days my friend, I don't think they'll ever end. Anyway, oh yeah.....Atom Heart Mother. Some good music on this album. I just need it in the right setting. The album was a #1 in the U.K. and #55 in the states. The inclusion of that Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast is a throwaway. Makes the album seem like some kind of thing stoners would sit around and listen to. Bad example for the youth of today. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast Best Track - If If I were a swan, I'd be gone. If I were a train, I'd be late. And if I were a good man, I'd talk with you More often than I do. If I were to sleep, I could dream. If I were afraid, I could hide. If I go insane, please don't put Your wires in my brain. If I were the moon, I'd be cool. If I were a rule , I would bend. If I were a good man, I'd understand The spaces between friends. If I were alone, I would cry. And if I were with you, I'd be home and dry. And if I go insane, Will you still let me join in with the game? If I were a swan, I'd be gone. If I were a train, I'd be late again. If I were a good man, I'd talk with you More often than I do. 1) Atom Heart Mother ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm_zJFZ9vMA 2) If ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87Vph3zH4z8 3) Summer '68 ** 4) Fat Old Sun ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjcK2Yosbu8 5) Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast * 3's - 0 2's - 4 1's - 1 Grade - 1.8 What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 01-07-2011 This has to be the most bizarre one they ever made as a group - only narrowly beaten by Roger Waters' truly crap 'Music from the Body'. What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 02-07-2011 ![]() Gabriel-era Genesis copyists' debut from 1983. Copyists is absolutely the right word, since vocalist Fish (Real name Derek Dick. Snigger !!) sounds almost exactly like Gabriel, whilst guitarist Steve Rothery sounds uncannily like Steve Hackett. It doesn't end there, as the entire band seem hell bent on recreating the early Genesis sound. Given that, this is actually a very good album. I know I haven't played this slab of vinyl in at least 20 years, because it's one of the few I have which haven't been stored in poly inner sleeves, and it's more than 20 years since I started doing that. AllMusic 4+/5 stars. What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 02-07-2011 ![]() Dave's 1983 offering. Convention has it that this marked the start of his artistic decline, and whilst there may be some truth in that, a sub-par Bowie album is still worthy of consideration. This is one of his more accessible albums, but still manages to throw in some weird curve-balls. He always managed to use interesting musicians on his projects, and Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar is an inspired choice IMV. A good album from one of my favourite writers. AllMusic 3/5 stars. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 03-07-2011 ^^ didn't care for that album when it came out gotta admit it was a grower also, that Marillion sure sounds interesting me being a Gabriel era Genesis kinda guy What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 03-07-2011 from my llibrary (vinyl) Probably more well known for his production credits than his albums this is Todd's third one, with his best known song of Hello It's Me. Probably the only song most even know by him. Never was big on this. A few great songs, but with 25 tracks, that's not saying much. Hello It's Me is the best, with I Saw The Light and You Left Me Sore also falling into that range. Piss Aaron came close. But with 8 tracks being ones that I would not wish to hear again, makes this album come out on the low side, barely liking it overall. It reached #29 on Billboard with Hello It's Me carrying the weight at #5. I Saw The Light was a #16 single. Hello It's Me is redone from the original on Todd's album with Nazz, which I have somewhere. Think I like this version better. I'm sure this album ranks pretty high among Rundgren fans, just falls a little short for me, of being a well liked album. But I give it a not-well liked. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Breathless Best Track - Hello It's Me Hello, it's me I've thought about us for a long, long time Maybe I think too much but something's wrong There's something here that doesn't last too long Maybe I shouldn't think of you as mine Seeing you Or seeing anything as much as I do you I take for granted that you're always there I take for granted that you just don't care Sometimes I can't help seeing all the way through It's important to me that you know you are free 'Cause I never want to make you change for me Think of me You know that I'd be with you if I could I'll come around to see you once in a while Or if I ever need a reason to smile And spend the night if you think I should 1) I Saw The Light *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXq81-cGJr4 2) It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYa0PdJTS54 3) Wolfman Jack ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GzZpl9F5ho 4) Cold Morning Light ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIic-HvqobI 5) It Takes Two To Tango (This Is For The Girls) * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT8i1_78QPE 6) Sweeter Memories * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-ctHzyVDFc 7) Breathless * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlvvO9PnCl0 8) The Night The Carousel Burned Down ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC8QxqGI79w 9) Saving Grace ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHJAhvbSP8k 10) Marlene ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLgL8dg_MvA 11) Song Of The Viking * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pc8QgWwUg5c 12) I Went To The Mirror * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoBwullp5yE 13) Black Maria ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQI7-zGrjxY 14) One More Day (No Word) ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB-gjslAWFs 1516) Couldn't I Just Tell You ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V0mYdUpopQ 17) Torch Song * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_PrgQfiaKg 18) Little Red Lights * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAFT6bTTZvk 19) Dust In The Wind ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJVwT9uFDpQ 20) Piss Aaron ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp9kQpv2kok 21) Hello It's Me *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsezr0qiFIc 22) Some Folks Is Even Whiter Than Me * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaLS9qiLxIU 23) You Left Me Sore *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3ywTNYauoE 24) Slut ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Os6DO2NuPy8 3's - 3 2's - 13 1's - 8 Grade - 1.7 What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 03-07-2011 ![]() i-Pod listening this PM in the garden. 1974 album from Alex Chilton's Band. Packed with tuneful, jangly Pop-Rock songs, this wasn't a successful album on its' release. However it's regarded as something of a blueprint for the Power Pop phenomenon that followed some time later. Quality. AllMusic 4+/5 stars. What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 03-07-2011 ![]() i-Pod listening this PM in the garden. 1964 Moptops release. For fans of their earlyish R&R covers, this is a good one, with a generous helping of quality Rock & Roll. As ever with The Beatles, it's hard to fault this album, so I won't try... AllMusic 5/5 stars. |
