I feel so out of place with this thread... I typically like every song on every album I buy. I'm a very easily satisfied man. There's only few times I don't come around to liking all the songs on an album. =\ I guess I'll list some of my favorite albums though as these are albums where I love every song.

The Crimson Idol - W.A.S.P
Bridge of Sighs - Robin Trower
Faces and Four Letter Words (Deluxe Edition) - One Less Reason
Blackbird - Alter Bridge
Pleasures of the Harbor - Phil Ochs
Forever Blue - Chris Isaak
Indian Summer - Carbon Leaf
Love, Devotion and Surrender - Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin
Psycho City - Great White
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
From the Vanishing Point - Red Wanting Blue

And many others I'm missing.

This has been a *really* fun topic to read through.  Interestingly enough many of the albums from the 60's, 70's and 80's would have been in my list 20 to 40 years ago.  However my tastes have changed over time and what I used to enjoy and like in music doesn't always please me now.  So although I appreciate the features of those albums that make others list them, they no longer do it for me.

I rate my songs a an A+ to F scale.  Anything B+ or above is a song I like.  I  have lots of albums where all the songs are B+ or above, so I'll cut my first list down to albums that have at least one A+ song (A+ means it's a favorite) and where the lowest song gets an A-.

100 Watt Smile - And Reason Flew & 100 Watt Smile
Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill & Jagged Little Pill Acoustic
Devo - Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo
Game Theory - Two Steps From The Middle Ages
Silversun Pickups - Caravanas
Suzanne Vega - Solitude Standing
The Cure - Disintegration
The New Pornographers - Whiteout Conditions
theStart - Death Via Satellite (more of an EP)
Vomit Launch - Exiled Sandwich

if that grading system works for you...great!

but I find it too over complicated...

Music Head's system which I have adopted is very easy:

we score tracks on an album wither 1 (dislike), 2 (like), 3 (love).
after all the tracks are collated divide the overall number by the amount of tracks:
if the division number is between 1.0 and 1.6 than means we dislike the album as a whole.
if it is between 1.7-2.3 then we use that guide to say we like the album,
between 2.4-3.0 means we love the album...

its simple, but it works

a few examples of how we do it:

I've evolved my system over the years.  I used something like your method a long time ago but found I wasn't hearing the songs I loved most in putting together playlists for myself.

I've got a spreadsheet of about 30,000 song ratings.  Granted some of them are duplicates due to singles and greatest hits albums.  But it helps me determine which areas I think I should explore more.  As I get older I know the amount of time left to enjoy music is finite.  I'm trying to expose myself to as much new music that I'm likely to enjoy as possible.  It also gives me the ability to make playlists of the songs I already know that I enjoy most.  For me it has made sense to be more granular in my ratings.

Also I'm somewhat of an organizational freak and categorizing and rating things is something I do as almost a second nature.  My rating system is pretty much just record keeping of what I'm feeling and thinking as I listen to music.  It's my memory for things I enjoy that I might otherwise forget.

I love every song on this 1974 released album because my late beautiful precious Steve Sanders of the Oak Ridge Boys does the leading for every song.

God bless you and those who have loved him longer than me always!!!
