Two correct. Two out of three ain't bad.

I think Mullane was one of the members' mother's maiden name or something like that.

Flowers changed their name for the reason you said, but I think Icehouse was a much better name.

R.E.M. had at least two songs with "Crush" in the title, but that's not the answer to that one. Crush did not become R.E.M..

Yes that's right. They did not change their name, they had it changed for them without prior consultation.

Shame on you if you don't get No. 1, CH. I know you have at least one album by this band.

Nope.

The Blue Velvets were also known as The Golliwogs before they adopted the name under which they became famous.

I've updatede the post to give the answers found already, and some clues to the others.

ive copied and pasted your list bob_32,
my new guesses are in bold type:

1. The Blue Velvets
- Clue: also known as The Golliwogs

2. The Pendletones
- Ans: The Beach Boys

3. Farm
- Clue: Iconic Australian band little river band

4. Tom & Jerry
- Ans: Simon & Garfunkel

5. Crush
- Clue: Australian, from around the turn of the millennium savage garden (but they were late 90s from memory)

6. The Four Lovers
- Clue: The Four... (something else)

7. The Four Aims
- Clue: The Four... (something else) four tops

8. The Mullanes
- Ans: Crowded House

9. Flowers (not to be confused with Kara's Flowers)
- Ans: Icehouse

10. The Teenagers (There have been a number of groups with this name, but these guys became far better known under a moniker they adopted later)
- Clue: Under their charismatic lead singer, they became identified with a whole musical genre, bringing that genre to a world wide audience. queen

BTW, my answers are pure guesses, I do not "google", that is cheating

I own nothing by The Golliwogs, not even a &' vinyl single,

just realized
this thread is like a game within a game

as to the OP
I mentioned a while back about someone needing to start a website
all artists/bands, origination of name, meanings of album titles and song names
has anyone started work on this project yet?
be sure and PM me when you are near completion
I will beta test for you
