As far as being too much music out there, don't think that could happen for me as far as listening.
Buying, yes, I gave up a long time ago trying to keep up on that end.
My new release buying seems to be less each year, because I'm always playing catch up.
Of course listening to new music in our day has never been easier.
But you can't carry a computer around with you all day.
With my collection of around 4000 titles, I don't really need new music to stay entertained.
When I pull a selection out of a box, not knowing what it will be, it's like x-mas.
Even though the amount of new music out there is overwhelming, it just makes it more gratifying when you come across something great.
Rare as it is, it's worth it.

I didn't know you could find out the temp of your computer.....probably the fan specs shows this ? ...try to keep the room your computer is in well ventilated...a couple of fans or better still air conditioner.
Also move your computer away from the wall about two feet to allow for air circulation from the computer's fan. Like you said, could be a problem with your computer's fan but if it's moving it's usually ok. I am by no means a computer expert but this is what I do to keep my computer from overheating !

There is too much music for me. I like to listen to things over and over again and absorb them so that I can sing along and know when every note is coming. I can't keep up. I'm trying to catch up from years ago. I was born in 1976 and so much came before I was born that I have yet to catch up on, I probably never will but I sure have fun trying.

I don't have a problem with the amount of music but I do have a problem with the quality of a lot of it. BTW - regarding that computer issue. Open the case and you will probably find that the heat sink on the CPU is clogged up with dust. You can always check your PC's temperature in the BIOS settings - the 'POST' sequence - Power - On - System - Test. The bits of instructions that come up on the screen when you first start up. Do NOT change any of them or you might run into problems later.

Hey Jerome it's 5 years since that post you replied to. I dare say the guy has either solved his heat problem with the computer, or given up and bought another by now.
Regarding the amount of music though - I agree with the comment about quality. Finding the diamonds in the dungheap can be a challenge. On the other hand, I do think some people out there are very lazy. They listen to anything and everything that comes at them, whether from the radio, playlists based on current pop charts, or whatever, then complain "This is so much crap." With a bit of effort you can find music you will enjoy, and there is no compulsion to listen to the rest. (Unless you, like me, have to put up with it over the loudspeakers at your gym.)

To be honest, I never really look at the date/time of the postings. I just reply when I see a thread I might be able to contribute towards. Anyway, back to the music bit. There's a gym down the road from me and they play the most hideous stuff on the planet. I suppose it serves a purpose, but it's bloody awful listening to it when you are walking past.

Not only was most of the music horrible, the announcers all seemed to love a particular type of puerile humour, making some sort of off-colour "joke" at every opportunity. A couple of times I complained to the receptionist and said this is a public facility, do you think people in the gym really want to hear someone talking about so-and-so celebrity wetting their pants? Typically they would change the station then and there - but that only solved the problem temporarily, as on my next visit it would invariably be back on the same station and I got tired of complaining. I did complain in writing to the local city council, who run the facility, and they did acknowledge the problem.
Hence, I feel I achieved a victory of sorts when they switched over to one of those purpose-generated in-house music channels. The music is just as bad, but at least I don't have to hear those godawful announcers.
