Good straight ahead rock with good melodic songs ! - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-10-2011 Ladyhawke Wrote:CH are you going to write a review on Noel's Album? You said you were an Oasis fan? yes i will be doing a review of my opinion of Noel's album, but not until next week, i need to buy it this week and listen to it at least a couple of times to give it a fair hearing. feel free to also post your thoughts on the album also Ladyhawke....dont worry about what others may think as it all boils down to personal opinion anyway. Good straight ahead rock with good melodic songs ! - Ladyhawke - 25-10-2011 Thanks Steve O, enjoy Good straight ahead rock with good melodic songs ! - Ladyhawke - 25-10-2011 Thanks for the advice CH, like you I won't be spending a lot of time on Liams music. I saw them together once acousticly and they are absolutely brilliant musicians, such a waste with the attitude though! Will admit CH I'm in awe of how good all you guys are at your music -impressed! Very refreshing to be a part of this site - enjoying it.
Good straight ahead rock with good melodic songs ! - Ladyhawke - 25-10-2011 Hey Jerome, are you a Pink Floydian?? My next question would be WHY? With a band like U2 right on your doorstep? What would be your top 5 artists? Good straight ahead rock with good melodic songs ! - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-10-2011 good question Ladyhawke....i often ask "why?" to anyone that loves PinkFloyd LOL, actually have 7 of their albums and only three of those i would comfortably say i truly like. i often ask myself why peole like U2 also...i think they are so overrated as a band IMO, i own a lot of their albums but only two or three of them actually do anything for me...... im guessing that Jerome's top two artists would be Pink Floyd and Mike Oldfield? maybe i am missing the point with both Pink Floyd and U2, or i am simply the only one who realises they both suck! Good straight ahead rock with good melodic songs ! - Ladyhawke - 25-10-2011 CH I never understood the attraction of Pink Floyd either. U2 for me is not just the music but the man Bono and everything he gives back, that's not to say that u2 would be my top pick, just the preferred of the 2.... Good straight ahead rock with good melodic songs ! - Jerome - 25-10-2011 Ok it is going to take me a while to answer this one. I have a list of reasons as to why I like the Floyd - but the main one is because they were so innovative in their heyday. I am going to get back to you on this one because there really are a number of reasons and I would like to list them all. From art direction on their album covers to actual songwriting/concepts/production. (By the way not any of the Floyd were great musicians - in fact some of them are lousy - but they managed to collectively produce themes that are going to be around for a while. U2 are completely overrated - only like the 'Joshua Tree'. After that they just fell apart. Ch is right PF and MO are my favourites but also like Vangelis, Eno, JMJ, ELP and Kansas. Peter G is another innovator as well. Will be back with a thesis on this soon! Good straight ahead rock with good melodic songs ! - Ladyhawke - 25-10-2011 Hey Jerome, I look forward to hearing a fresh opinion on PF. I've obviously missed something with them, probably because I like upbeat music, more acoustic stuff perhaps? Good straight ahead rock with good melodic songs ! - Jerome - 26-10-2011 I don't know if it's going to be a fresh opinion, but it will just be my take on PF. (I can just see CH rolling his eyes in disgust!!!) Good straight ahead rock with good melodic songs ! - mtthwibrahim - 26-10-2011 Pink Floyd were only good with Syd Barret imo. He was great, a wonderful whimsical little man with so much ambition. 70's Floyd just bores me to death. Those long, endless guitar solos, I can't stand it. I see the appeal if your into that sort of thing, but I find it dull anyways-TV on the Radio might be what your looking for SteveO. They're most certainly not straight ahead, far from it actually, but I feel that cappture the spirit of a lot 70's rock artists like Bowie and Eno, in the sense that they're a creative art rock band who try as many exciting things as they can. And melodies, boy do they have them |
