Hi There... - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2013

i havent seen john Butler since he made it 'big'...i used to go down to Fremantle on sundays(probably once a month) many years ago where John was busking on the street, thought he had talent back then...Butler was raised in a semi-rural town called Pinjarra, just several miles from where i currently am, he is actually US born, he father was a diplomat for the US Govt back in the day, he retired in Perth, didnt want his son being bought up in a 'gun crazed' land...LMAO!

Powderfinger....are big Neil Young fans, they got their name from the Crazy Horse song 'powderfinger', they come from Perth also

im not really that familliar with Jeff Lang????, Xavier Rudd...only know a few tracks, again, dont own anything...

go and seek out Tame Impala, Birds Of Tokyo
(both from right here in perth) and Boy & Bear...who are other great aussie artists IMO, if you like 'heavy rock' also try Wolfmother

Tame Impala are infused with psychadelia, Birds are alternative, and Bear are folky/pop

Basement birds are another little great Aussie band...they are made up of several members of other established bands, powderfinger vocalist among them, their music is more acoustic and folky though....

have you heard Angus & Julia Stone yet?...great little brother/sister folk duo, Angus' solo set 'broken brights' is also very good(very dylanesque in parts)

Hi There... - SteveO - 03-01-2013

Welcome aboard MD, Myst! I like your taste in music!

Hi There... - Myst - 03-01-2013

You folks sure know how to make a gal feel welcome! Thank you SteveO & Nick, I appreciate that! Smile

I have made a list of your recommendations Crazy Horse. The only band I have heard of is Wolfmother (I have their self-titled and Cosmic Egg albums)- the rest are all unfamiliar territory waiting to be eagerly explored by yours truly.

Please allow me to share one of my favorite live recordings of Jeff Lang with you all. This is a rather lengthy track, but I hope you'll give it a listen- it showcases his guitar talent very well. (The song starts a little slow but keeps picking up as it goes). Enjoy!
