as a footnote to the Phil Collins thing for your trivia knowledge....

according to Rolling Stone, only three artists in the history of pop/rock music have sold 100million albums as part of a group and also as solo artists,
those artists are:

Michael Jackson...solo and part of Jacksons
Phil Collins..........solo and part of Genesis
and....
Paul McCartney...who has achieved the 100million plus sales mark with three different artists...as a soloist, with Wings and obviously with Beatles....

incidently,
Beatles have sold inexcess of one billion albums worldwide...they achieved the feat several years ago and are the second artist to do so....

the first artist to make one billion album sales was Elvis Presley who achieved the feat n 1997.

Phil Collins is not often recognized for his drumming abilities. I rate him in the top ten drummers of all time. Highly creative behind the kit. Never mind that 'In the Air Tonight' thing. Listen to 'Los Endos', 'The Cinema Show' & 'Dance on a Volcano' from the album Seconds Out. Together with Chester Thompson, he produces some of the most incredible rhythmns and structures - all highly complex.

i have that stupid "face value" album on vinyl...it hasnt aged very well, sounds extremely dated...must be those horrible 1980s synths and stupid drum sounds ala "in the air tonight"...

i read somewhere recently that although he officially retired from music after the "going back" covers album that he is apparently working(or about to start working) on producing the upcoming Adele album...
that could give her sound a new 'edge' to it,or...it could be really bad, i guess it depends what frame or mind/mood he is in when he woks on it???

Are you referring to Leonard Cohen?

And by a strange coincidence, you had two drummers in a row - Karen Carpenter considered herself a 'drummer who sang'!
