Gordon Giltrap and Rick Wakeman collaborated on an instrumental album titled From Brush and Stone, drawing their inspiration for the tracks from artwork â paintings, sculpture, etc., and presumably intending to reflect them back, musically; interesting concept. This track is based on Rodinâs âThe Thinkerâ â

Itâs probably not fair, but itâs interesting to listen to these two tracks side by side. The one above, and then this one with Oliver Wakeman and Gordon Giltrap. The difference, apart from one Wakeman being the father and the other the son, is that whilst the guitar and piano parts from From Brush and Stone were recorded separately, the collaboration between Oliver and Gordon Giltrap, Ravens & Lullabies, was not, or at least not as far as I am able to ascertain. I think that difference, or disconnect, is quite telling, but I could be wrong. From Ravens & Lullabies which is a very, very nice album (and not all instrumental) - âA Perfect Dayâ
