What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 24-06-2011 ![]() His 2009 comeback album, following a bit of a lost weekend... To these ears, this is a much darker album than his previous releases, reflecting his pharmaceutical excursion over the previous years. Much of the humour I associate with him is absent, but the album is still an attention grabber. Solid effort. AllMusic 4/5 stars. This one is customarily contradictory, with the man himself mixing self-pity with defiance in a soul-baring review of his complicated life(style). The rhymes are as sharp as ever, and reach a ferocious emotional pitch at times. Lil Wayne's appearance had me suddenly thinking that I need to investigate the better end of Hip Hop in more detail... Was hoping I would catch him in the discount bin I guess. Which I actually did at Wal-Mart the other day for $5. It was one I already friggin' had. Anyway, you guys make we wanna pick up where I left off. I just hate those damn ft. artists all the time with these rap guys. Tiggi, i only have one Lil Wayne album...his last one called "rebirth" from 2010, i got it after hearing his rapping on that Eminem track. i think his album is reasonable enough, but havent heard any others by him to say whether its a good or bad one yet. It's bound to be subjective, but it'll serve as a foundation for further research... JazzyRandy is the man for this, but I guess he's abandoned us. |
