The Chainsmokers are still cosying up to the top spot on the Official Singles Chart this week, as their latest single Closer logs at second week at Number 1.The US duo’s collaboration with Halsey comfortably leads the Top 40 with combined sales of 92,000 – 12,000 higher than their total last week and 31,000 more than their nearest rival this week, DJ Snake and Justin Bieber’s Let Me Love You (2).
Celebrating their first Number 1 last week, one-half of the group Alex Taggart told OfficialCharts.com: "We are beyond grateful at all the support from our UK fans and radio stations; as a relatively new artist, it means a lot to us and gives us a lot of confidence in the music we have coming up!"

Making up the rest of this week’s Top 5 are Major Lazer’s Cold Water (3), Calum Scott’s Dancing On My Own (4) and Twenty One Pilots’ Heathens (5).
[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Martin Garrix climbs seven places with his Bebe Rexha hook-up In The Name Of Love, earning the producer a fourth UK Top 10, and Olly Murs’ You Don’t Know Love lifts 12 spots to a new peak of 15 this week.
Ellie Goulding’s Still Falling For You - from the new Bridget Jones film – shifts seven spots to 19, Ariana Grande lands her eighth UK Top 40 hit with Side To Side ft. Nicki Minaj, vaulting 48 places to Number 24.

Further down, six more songs hit the Top 40 for the first time this week. Zara Larsson’s brand new track Ain’t My Fault debuts at 30, Offaiah’s Trouble leaps from 60 to 31, and after scaling the Top 100 for the last five week’s Matoma & Becky Hill’s False Alarm finally cracks the Top 40, up 11 to Number 35.
Finally, production trio Cheat Codes move five places with their Dante Klein collaboration Let Me Hold You (Turn Me On) (38), and DJ Mike Perry sneaks into the Top 40 at 39 with The Ocean ft. Shy Martin.

Ward Thomas' Cartwheels is this week's Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart and has made history in the process.The second studio album from twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy Ward Thomas is the first by a country act from the UK to reach the top spot. The previous best was logged by The Shires in 2015 - their debut album Brave reached Number 10.
"We literally don’t know how to find the words. This is completely crazy," explained Catherine and Lizzy to OfficialCharts.com. "We were just hoping for Top 40 and then here we are now! It’s been a crazy week and it’s been super tense.

"Thank you so much everyone for supporting us and supporting a great genre. We can’t express our appreciation for the amount of support we’ve had. It hasn’t really hit us yet and we really can’t believe it.”
Cartwheels is actually Ward Thomas' first Top 40 album and outpeaks their debut album by forty place; 2014's From Where We Stand reached Number 41.
The next new entry is this week's runner-up - The Nation's Favourite Carpenters Songs, a greatest hits collection by The Carpenters which was released alongside an ITV documentary. Jamie T's fourth studio album Trick lands at Number 3, becoming his fourth Top 5 album in a row.
Rounding out this week's Top 5 are last week's Number 1 Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway by Barbra Streisand and new entry Growing Over Life by Wretch 32, his second Top 5 album.
[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]A Day To Remember have achieved their first UK Top 40 album at 6 with Bad Vibrations, closely followed by Foreverland, the first studio album in six years from The Divine Comedy (7). Sophie Ellis Bextor bags her fifth Top 20 as Familia closes the week at Number 12.

Travis Scott's Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight is brand new at Number 19, followed by King Creosote's Astronaut Meets Appleman (25) and Izzy Bizu's debut album Moment of Madness, which lands at 28.
Finally, another three new entries round out this wee's Top 40: Freddie Mercury's 70th birthday release Messenger of the Gods sits at 31, Wedding Present's Going Going debuts at Number 35 and Angel Olsen makes her Top 40 debut with My Woman bowing out at Number 40.

A fifth week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for ‘Closer’ gives The Chainsmokers the third longest run in the top spot for 2016. It sits behind Lukas Graham’s ‘7 Years’ (eight weeks) and Drake’s ‘One Dance’ (seven weeks).
After debuting at #45, then jumping to #10 last week, Calum Scott’s debut single ‘Dancing On My Own’ has climbed another seven spots to #3 to hit the top three for the first time.
Moving up 29 spots from last week’s debut at #36, ‘Side By Side’ becomes Ariana Grande’s fourth top ten as a lead artist on the ARIA Singles Chart. The American artist has previously hit the top ten with ‘Problem’ (#2 May ’14), ‘Break Free’ (#3 Jul. ’14) and ‘Focus’ (#10 Nov. ’15).
Hailee Steinfeld’s ‘Starving’ has jumped 15 spots to #9, giving Steinfeld a first top ten.
There are also new peaks for Tove Lo’s ‘Cool Girl’ (#30) and DNCE’s ‘Toothbrush’ (#37).
Debuts:
#15: The Black Eyed Peas Feat. The World ‘#Wheresthelove’ – The Black Eyed Peas make their return to the Singles Chart for the first time since 2011 with a re-working of their first ARIA Charts #1. The new version features vocals from a plethora of artists and celebrities including Justin Timberlake, Usher, Jamie Foxx, The Game, Mary J. Blige, Jessie J, Nicole Scherzinger, Diddy, DJ Khaled, Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Jaden Smith, ASAP Rocky, Vanessa Hudgens, Snoop Dogg, Connie Britton and LL Cool J. The original version of ‘Where Is The Love?’ spent six weeks at #1 between August and October in 2003. The group last charted with ‘Don’t Stop The Party’ (#16 Jun. ’11).
#25: Sia Feat. Kendrick Lamar ‘The Greatest’ – Sia picks up her second top 50 entry for 2016 with ‘The Greatest’. It’s the first single released from the ARIA winner’s forthcoming eighth studio album We Are Your Children and features a verse from rapper Kendrick Lamar. Sia peaked at #6 in April with ‘Cheap Thrills’, her first US #1.
#32: Zara Larsson ‘Ain't My Fault’ – A third top 50 single for Swede Zara Larsson. ‘Ain’t My Fault’ follows on from ‘Never Forget You’ (#3 Nov. ’15) and ‘Lush Life’ (#4 Jan. ’16).
#43: Passenger ‘Anywhere’ – British singer-songwriter Passenger returns to the top 50 for the first time since 2014 with ‘Anywhere’. It’s the first single to chart from his forthcoming seventh album Young As The Morning, Old As The Sea. Passenger last charted with ‘Hearts On Fire’ (#25 May ’14).
#50: Cheat Codes & Dante Klein ‘Let Me Hold You (Turn Me On)’ – The second entry on the chart in 2016 for American electronic band Cheat Codes. The follow-up to ‘Sex’ (#17 Jun. ’16) features Dutch DJ Dante Klein.

There’s another new #1 at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart this week, with American metalcore band A Day To Remember debuting in the top spot with sixth album Bad Vibrations (see below).
Adele’s 25 has jumped from #10 to #4. It’s the former #1’s 38th week in the top five.
Post-Father’s Day, there’s new peaks this week for Roy & HG’s This Sporting Life (#6) and John Williamson’s His Favourite Collection (#9).
Debuts:
#1: A Day To Remember ‘Bad Vibrations’ – With their sixth album, American metalcore band A Day To Remember snare their first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The follow-up to Common Courtesy (#11 Dec. ’13), Bad Vibrations is the band’s third album to hit the ARIA top 50 and their first top ten. A Day To Remember will be touring Australia in support of the album in December.
#5: Big Scary ‘Animal’ – Melbourne duo Big Scary return with Animal. Their third album is the follow-up to Not Art (#32 Jul. ’13) and is their first top ten on the ARIA Albums Chart. In between Big Scary albums, Tom Iansek released the album About Face (#80 Aug. ’14) under the name #1 Dads.
#10: Travis Scott ‘Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight’ – Travis Scott makes his Albums Chart debut with Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight. It’s the American rapper/producer’s second album and features appearances from James Blake, Young Thug, Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000 and The Weeknd, among others.
#28: James Vincent McMorrow ‘We Move’ – The third album from Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow. We Move is McMorrow’s second album to chart in Australia, following on from Post Tropical (#25 Jan. ’14).
#29: Angel Olsen ‘My Woman’ – American singer-songwriter Angel Olsen makes her Albums Chart debut with third album My Woman. Olsen previously released the albums Half Way Home in 2012 and Burn Your Fire For No Witness in 2014.
#35: Jamie T ‘Trick’ – Trick is the fourth studio album from British indie artist Jamie T. The follow-up to Carry On The Grudge (#35 Oct. ’14) becomes the singer-songwriter’s third top 50 appearance on the ARIA Albums Chart. His highest peak was with Kings & Queens (#17 Sept. ’09).
#49: Felix Riebl ‘Paper Doors’ – Cat Empire front man Felix Riebl goes solo again with Paper Doors. It’s Riebl’s third solo outing, following the 2010 album Into The Rain and last year’s EP Lonely Truths and the first to hit the ARIA top 50. The Cat Empire topped the Albums Chart earlier in the year with Rising With The Sun (#1 Mar. ’16), their second #1.

The Chainsmokers extend their reign over the Official Singles Chart this week, as Closer keeps the Number 1 spot.The US duo’s collaboration with Halsey notched up 89,000 combined sales to lead the Top 40 for a third week, made up of 31,000 downloads and 5.8 million streams.
Closer finishes a sizable 31,000 ahead of its closest rival, DJ Snake and Justin Bieber’s Let Me Love You (2), while Major Lazer’s former Number 1 Cold Water holds at 3.

Calum Scott’s Dancing On My Own is a non-mover at 4, and Sia’s The Greatest zooms 44 places to Number 5 – the biggest climber in this week’s Top 40.
[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Ariana Grande celebrates her fourth Top 10 single today with Side To Side ft. Nicki Minaj, which leaps from 24 to Number 8. The song is now the highest charting from her Number 1 album Dangerous Woman, following the title track (Number 17 peak) and Into You (Number 14).
This week’s highest new entry comes from Lady Gaga and her comeback track Perfect Illusion, which lands at Number 12. The song serves as the lead single from her new album Joanne, which is out on October 21.
Bastille’s Good Grief rebounds seven spots to Number 20 following the release of their new album Wild World this week, and former X Factor champion James Arthur debuts at Number 25 with Say You Won’t Let Go – his first single in three years

Bastille have topped the Official Albums Chart for the second time in their careers.Dan, Kyle, Chris and Will's second studio album Wild World debuts straight in at Number 1 with combined sales of 36,000, fending off strong competition from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

Bastille told OfficialCharts.com at their Wild World pop-up store in London: “This feels very surreal. Obviously it’s amazing! This album has been a real labour of love for us… making it has been the one constant through all the madness of the last couple of years.”
Another new entry at Number 2 is the sixteenth studio album from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds titled Skeleton Tree. The album is their fourth Top 10 and the five-piece's highest charting release, out-peforming 2013's Number 3-peaking Push The Sky Away.
The Beatles gain their 32[SUP]nd[/SUP] Top 10 album with Live at the Hollywood Bowl, new at 3, and Meat Loaf's 13th studio album Braver Than We Are lands at 4. Last week's Number 1, Cartwheels by Ward Thomas, falls four places to Number 5.
[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Three more albums are brand new entries in this week's Top 10, the first being KT Tunstall's KIN (7). The fourth Top 10 of KT's career, KIN is her highest charting collection for six years. Twin Atlantic earn their second Top 10 album in GLA at Number 9, and Teenage Fanclub score their best position in 19 years with Here at 10.

Jack White's Acoustic Recordings - 1998-2016 enters at Number 12, while Wilco's Schmilco finishes the week at Number 25, their career best. Devin Townsend Project also chart higher than ever before - Transcendence is their first UK Top 40 at 26.
Catfish and the Bottlemen's The Ride rises nine places to Number 27, Kanye West's The Life of Pablo returns to the Top 40 (up ten to Number 39) and finally, All Time Low's Straight to DVD 2 - Past, Present and Future is new at 40.

Australian music charts for week ending 17th September 2016:

For the sixth straight week, American duo The Chainsmokers are #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with the Halsey-featured track ‘Closer’. Once again, the track is #1 on both the UK and US charts.
After debuting at #25 last week, Sia’s ‘The Greatest’ has jumped 23 spots in its second week on the chart. It becomes Sia’s fifth top ten single and equals her previous peak set by her first top ten, ‘Chandelier’ (#2 Apr. ’14).
A jump of two for ‘Side By Side’ has given Ariana Grande her third top five as a lead artist on the ARIA Singles Chart. Her previous top fives were with ‘Problem’ (#2 May ’14) and ‘Break Free’ (#3 Jul. ’14).
Zara Larsson’s ‘Ain’t My Fault’ climbs up eight spots to #24 in its second week in the top 50.
Katy Perry’s ‘Rise’ and Little Mix’s ‘Hair’ have re-entered the chart at #48 and #49, respectively.
Debuts:
#14: Lady Gaga ‘Perfect Illusion’ – Lady Gaga returns to the ARIA Singles Chart for the first time in almost three years with ‘Perfect Illusion’. The first single to come from her forthcoming fifth studio album, Joanne, is Lady Gaga’s 19[SUP]th[/SUP] appearance as a lead artist in the ARIA top 50. The track was co-written by Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker. It features guitar work by Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme. Lady Gaga last charted with ‘Dope’ (#34 Nov. ’13).

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds debut at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with their sixtheenth studio album Skeleton Key. The album is the fifteenth Australian #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2016, breaking the record of 14 set in 2013.
This week’s top 50 features 14 debuts, including six in the top ten.
At #8, the highest re-entry this week comes from The Beatles and their live album Live At The Hollywood Bowl. It’s a remixed and remastered version of their 1977 album The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl that’s been released to coincide with the cinema release of the Ron Howard-directed documentary Eight Days A Week. The original album peaked at #12.
Debuts:
#1: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds ‘Skeleton Tree’ – The sixteenth studio album from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds gives the iconic group their second #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The release of the follow-up to Push The Sky Away (#1 Feb. ‘13) was accompanied by the limited release of film One More Time With Feeling, in lieu of interviews or live performances.
#2: Safia ‘Internal’ – Canberra trio Safia hit the Albums Chart for the first time with Internal. The indie electronic act’s debut album features the single ‘Make Them Wheels Roll’ (#45 Apr. ‘16). They previously featured on the Peking Duk single ‘Take Me Over’ (#6 Dec. ‘14).
#3: Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris ‘My Dear Companion: Selections From The Trio Collection’ – This compilation brings together the works of the country super group of Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris. It consists of tracks from their two studio albums, Trio (#12 Mar. ’87) and Trio II (#66 Mar. ’99), as well as alternate takes and unreleased material. Dolly Parton also debuted last month with Pure And Simple (#9 Aug. ’16).
#5: Jason Aldean ‘They Don’t Know’ – The first top ten appearance for American country artist Jason Aldean. They Don’t Know is Aldean’s seventh studio album and second to hit the top 50, following on from Old Boots, New Dirt (#13 Mar. ‘15).
#7: Bastille ‘Wild World’ – Album two and a new peak for British band Bastille. Wild World comes three years on from Bad Blood (#10 Aug. ’13).
#10: Devin Townsend Project ‘Transcendence’ – The seventeenth studio album by Canadian musician Devin Townsend and the seventh released under the Devin Townsend Project name. It’s Townsend’s first top 50 appearance in any form.
#13: Jack White ‘Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016’ – A compilation of 26 acoustic songs from throughout Jack White's career as a member of The White Stripes and The Raconteurs, as well as a solo artist. The track listing spans album tracks, B-sides, remixes, alternate versions, and previously unreleased tracks. As a solo artist, White has previously charted with Blunderbuss (#2 Apr. ’12) and Lazaretto (#3 Jun. ’14).
#16: Wilco ‘Schmilco’ – Then tenth album from Wilco gives the indie rock veterans their first appearance in the ARIA top 50 since The Whole Love (#23 Oct. ’11). In between chart appearances, Wilco released a surprise album, 2015’s Star Wars.
#19: What So Not ‘Divide & Conquer’ – What So Not is Sydney record electronic producer Emoh Instead (Chris Emerson). Divide & Conquer is the act’s first appearance in the ARIA top 50 and the first release without founding member Harley Streten (Flume).
#20: Grouplove ‘Big Mess’ – A new peak for American band Grouplove with their third album. Big Mess follows on from Never Trust A Happy Song (#21 Sept. ’11) and Spreading Rumours (#18 Sept. ’13).
#22: All Time Low ‘Straight To DVD II: Past, Present, And Future Hearts’ – The second live album from American band All Time Low. It’s the pop punk group’s fourth appearance in the ARIA top 50. The album was recorded at London’s Wembley Arena while the band were touring their album Future Hearts (#4 Apr. ’15).
#27: Of Mice & Men ‘Cold World’ – The fourth studio album from American metalcore band and their second to hit the top 50 on the ARIA Charts. It’s the follow-up to Restoring Force (#9 Feb. ’14).
#38: Northeast Party House ‘Dare’ – Melbourne’s Northeast Party House make their top 50 debut thanks to Dare. It’s the band’s second album, the follow-up to 2014’s Any Given Weekend.
#48: The Hard Aches ‘I Freak Out’ – Adelaide punk duo The Hard Aches make their Albums Chart debut with I Freak Out. The six track EP comes just over a year on from the band’s debut album Pheromones.
