Never heard of Joshua before...
I listened and I liked!
Thanks Ruby

Joshua Kadison seemed to have a very bright but very brief period of popularity. When I first heard the song "Jessie", I honestly thought it was Elton John singing.

Perhaps that was JK's problem - too similar to Elton.

just YT'd "Jessie", very Elton John IMO also,
I don't think he gets those low notes as deep as Elton, but yes, I would think its Elton I didn't know better.
Its a nice song also...

Wiki says the single peaked at #15 in both Australia and New Zealand, #26 in the US and #48 in the UK

I went on the band's official website, heres the link if youre interested: http://rock.co.za/files/rabbitt_index.html

it appears Neil Cloud made a solo album called "St. Cloux" after the Rabbitt split up,
the album is apparently in the disco vein...

album cover:

^^^As far as I know, Neil Cloud is the CEO of an office furniture manufacturing company these days.

And oddly enough there’s a common denominator in those last two posts - Rod Argent! He produced Joshua Kadison’s debut album, and played on it too, which to my mind was a real vote of confidence. Not sure what happened to JK – he made some albums after PDS, including Troubadour in a Timequake and Vanishing America which both have some nice songs on them - sentimental ballads mostly, but he's oh so good at them! He also wrote a book named Seventeen Ways to Eat a Mango, and now seems to have disappeared from view.

Can someone explain to me the significance of the 'v' in "Chvrches", which I presume is supposed to be an archaic rendition of "Churches"?

It's just that a man was actually hung for this. Somewhere in Tasmania I visited a historic site where the convicts had been put to work as stonemasons. One of them, when etching a name into the stone, had inscribed an old-fashioned 'V' instead of a 'U"; according to our guide, this earned him the death penalty.

Who said spelling isn't important?

I'm still trying to figure out how to pronounce it

and that was in 2013!...LOL

no seriously, im assuming that would have been back in the early 1800s as a good guess, damn!, times were brutal and punishments swift back then.
