Don't listen to Aretha that often, but when I do I'm left feeling that I ought to more often.
Great album, chock full of covers, delivered in a Bluesy, Jazzy style. Pure class...

i-Pod listening in the garden this PM.
Kelis Roger's debut album, from 1999.
This is the only one of hers' I've heard, but it's a strong R&B offering, with a few Hip Hop touches.
The production, from The Neptunes, is excellent, and gives interesting support to some pretty good songs. Unfortunately, they're the result of a writing team, and haven't come from Kelis herself, but that's the way it goes...
Good album.

Soul singer's fourth, from 1972.
Al Green is seen as an important Soulman, but I've heard very little of his output.
Initial impressions weren't that favourable, but there's definitely something alluring about Green's laid-back Soul crooning.
I think my collection would be poorer for not having some Reverend Al, so the choice is whether to go for a good compilation, or focus on his string of acclaimed early '70s albums, of which this is one. Looking on Amazon, the best stuff is covered by a couple of 2-disc sets, which each feature four albums at a bargain price, so that'll be the way to go, I feel...

Breakthrough album from dead Rapper, released in 1994.
Gangsta stuff which usually repels me, but there is some decent material on here.
Unfortunately there's not enough of it to warrant a purchase, so no Buy List place for this.
