That album was an odd one. I love the first half (first side if you will), but the second half is a big letdown. "Beautiful" is a decent song; the rest of the songs in the second half are entirely forgettable.

From Michael Hedgesâ Torched. A lovely album, released posthumously with the assistance of Messrs Crosby & Nash who were friends, and who also added harmony vocals in such a sensitive way to the gorgeous âSpring Budsâ on this release. Unfortunately, I canât find a clip of that song on YT that will play in my country, dammit.
The tracks and songs are probably not quite as he envisioned them; they werenât ready when he had that tragic accident. Thereâs almost something a little voyeuristic about exposing someoneâs unfinished business ... âspose it all goes to show how impossible it is to have any control from the grave! Anyway â itâs a good listen, possibly even because of having a spontaneous, unpolished feel which lends its own warmth. Hereâs one that would play â¦

I wasn't aware that he had died. Not that I followed him closely at all, but he was one of a brood of artists commonly featured on a certain radio show here in the late 1980's - a show that introduced me to a good deal of great music. I guess he was labelled as New Age; I suppose it was hardly his fault that the term became a bit of a pejorative later on due to the number of musicians pumping out bland formulaic synthesised music under the New Age aegis.
