The Track I'm Listening To Is....................... - Oceansoul - 08-10-2016 I'm listening to Oceans of Slumber - Turpentine Aww yeah. Winter is among my top albums of the year so far, hard to believe how much it has grown on me like whoa. The Track I'm Listening To Is....................... - Ruby - 08-10-2016 bob_32_116 Wrote:I wasn't aware that he had died. Not that I followed him closely at all, but he was one of a brood of artists commonly featured on a certain radio show here in the late 1980's - a show that introduced me to a good deal of great music. I guess he was labelled as New Age; I suppose it was hardly his fault that the term became a bit of a pejorative later on due to the number of musicians pumping out bland formulaic synthesised music under the New Age aegis. Absolutely not his fault at all, and he certainly does not warrant any label that would categorise him as bland and synthesized â he would be better described as the polar opposite! One of those artists who stands alone IMHO. I stumbled over his Aerial Boundaries quite by a very happy accident. One can only speculate as to what might have been revealed further along the line â I just know that he was one of lifeâs special individuals and have hardly heard anything he did which does not sit well with me. He was on the Windham Hill label, actually, which specialised in acoustic instrumental music, although they DO have Vangelis on their roster - possibly the only electronic artist they had! The Track I'm Listening To Is....................... - Ruby - 08-10-2016 ^And I do concede that Windham Hill records was seen as a New Age label. Perhaps, with time, the meaning of the moniker has changed. ![]() The Track I'm Listening To Is....................... - oldies65 - 08-10-2016 Tramp-Otis&Carla The Track I'm Listening To Is....................... - Ruby - 10-10-2016 The final track from ⦠And The Moon Was Hungry â¦. which I believe is the only album released by the project known as The Romanovs, the brainchild of Morgan Kibby who is now known as White Sea. That project is no more and thereâs another The Romanovs band who donât resemble this one at all. One helluva voice and she really knows her way around the keys â a sort of Kate Bush meets Joni Mitchell meets alt/chamber music gone a little gothic! Lol! The Track I'm Listening To Is....................... - CRAZY-HORSE - 12-10-2016 Good song Ruby, thanks... I have a few of Jackson's albums from 70s/80s and 90s and all are consistently good, I find him to be a consistent artist through the decades. The Track I'm Listening To Is....................... - bob_32_116 - 12-10-2016 I like Jackson Browne, but probably not enough to own more than a couple of albums of his. I have The Pretender and Lives In the Balance, the latter on CD picked up for $2 at an outdoor jumble sale. It plays perfectly and the quality is immaculate. Meanwhile The Pretender, which was store-bought as new, has got scratched somewhere along the line, and now Track 4 won't play properly. Very strange, and frustrating. I really need to replace that. The Track I'm Listening To Is....................... - CRAZY-HORSE - 12-10-2016 a good compilation like this one: ![]() 2 discs, 32 career spanning tracks, great value for money IMO, no I don't have it, but it has just about every "essential" track on it. The Track I'm Listening To Is....................... - bob_32_116 - 12-10-2016 I should have mentioned that Jackson Browne is one of the featured guests on the Joan Baez 75th Birthday Celebration CD/DVD. He helps out on piano with a number of songs, and they get together to perform his song "Before the Deluge" (Or is it after? I can never remember which.) That was one of the highlights of the show for me. |
