What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 13-02-2012 Jerome Wrote:Kings of Leon - Only by the Night. This band is growing on me. They've been arounf fo a good while but I have only recently started to listen to their stuff. Some mediocre tracks but some good ones as well. I like the raw edginess of it all. Jerome, try "come round sundown", their album from last year, its not quite as "edgy" as you put it, but i think the songwriting is superior purely from a listening perspective....it also took me a while to listen to these guys and im now glad i did. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 13-02-2012 ![]() yes, ok! i admit it....i like Bon Jovi,ok?! i think jon Bon Jovi has one of the best voices in rock music post 1980!...he sure knows how to belt out a good rock song and also show the tenderness required on a rock ballad. this is either the firth or sixth studio album by these guys, cant quite remember which,i did check out allmusic for their score here, but forgot the discography section. anyway, some real good sing-a-long rock chorus lines on "crush" and some good fist pumping action happening also, a great little ballad on here in "thank you for loving me", which is the equal to anything Bryan Addams did when he was on top of his game in the early 1990s. there was a break of four or five years between this one and its predeccessor and the maturity in both the lyrics and playing sure shows through here...always liked their material but this one is the best IMO purely for the mature approach to writing and not the big hair, daggy clothes and hair styles of their earlier works. i also have a lot of respect for Jon Bon in his personal life also, happily married with kids, works at his cafe/resturaunt on down time serving at tables and taking orders...hey, gotta respect anyone that does that who doesnt have to...but thats the kind of guy his is! allmusic rates this one 4/5 or 2.4 on our scoring system, which incidently is their highest achieving score by the pro's over there in cyberland! I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: save the world best track: its my life or two story town tracks: 1. its my life *** Bon Jovi - It's My Life - YouTube live 2. say it isnt so *** Bon Jovi Say It Isn't So live The Crush Tour 2000 - YouTube live 3. thank you for loving me ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9wKi1keg8g&ob=av2n vevo video 4. two story town *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLcOoVZ9mXw audio 5. next 100 years ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpIUr7WjjRs&feature=related audio 6. just older ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1K--Nq3i8o audio 7. mystery train ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxIq-QVasEo&feature=related audio 8. save the world * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FULImkkSbhs&feature=related audio 9. capt.crash & the beauty queen from mars ** "Captain Crash & The Beauty Queen From Mars" - YouTube live 10.she's a mystery ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xm_oY5KlEJs audio 11.i got the girl ** Bon Jovi - I Got The Girl (Live) - YouTube live 12.one wild night ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxwYG_xAY_c audio 3s=3 2s=8 1s=1 rating: 2.2 What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 13-02-2012 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:Jerome, try "come round sundown", their album from last year, its not quite as "edgy" as you put it, but i think the songwriting is superior purely from a listening perspective....it also took me a while to listen to these guys and im now glad i did. their best one for me What Are You Listening To? - jroknbok - 14-02-2012 Just bought AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" album. I love buying CDs no idea why. Tracks: 1. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap 2 Love At First Feel 3. Big Balls 4. Rocker 5. Problem Child 6 There's Gonne Be Some Rockin' 7. Ain't No Fun (Waiting Around To Be A Millionaire) 8 Ride On 9. Squealer Straight up Rock 'n' Roll. Takes me back to middle school. AC/DC is like a Rock n' Roll started kit. But as classic as classic rock can get though What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 14-02-2012 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:Jerome, try "come round sundown", their album from last year, its not quite as "edgy" as you put it, but i think the songwriting is superior purely from a listening perspective....it also took me a while to listen to these guys and im now glad i did. Love their Back in Black album. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 14-02-2012 Jerome Wrote:Love their Back in Black album. for some reason i cant get into their Bon Scott albums as easily as the Brian Johnson ones.... Back In Black is a classic rock n roll album from the tolling of the bells at the beginning to the final notes on side 2....Rock as it is meant to be IMO! What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 14-02-2012 from my library (vinyl) Not as big on this album as most are. Allmusic gives it a perfect score, but it's far from that for me. Rolling Stone ranks it #7 on their greatest albums of all time. Four love tracks and four bombs in my view. I've had more than four love tracks on a single album, so with 18 tracks here, it just doesn't measure up. But hey, it is a Stones album so we all rejoice! The groups 12th album in the states. Recorded over a four year period, with some being outtakes from the Sticky Fingers sessions. The boys had left Britian over tax issues and settled in France. Mick had a new wife, Bianca. Richards had a new heroin habit. New beginnings. Tumbling Dice was the first single, with the Richards tune Happy being the follow up, and of course the album went #1 everywhere. Those two singles are two of my love tracks, the other two being Sweet Virginia and Rocks Off. As far as the worst, Just Wanna See His Face takes that honor. That was a waste of valuable grooves. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - I Just Want To See His Face Best Track - Happy Well I never kept a dollar past sunset, It always burned a hole in my pants. Never made a school mama happy, Never blew a second chance, oh no I need a love to keep me happy, I need a love to keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy. Always took candy from strangers, Didn't wanna get me no trade. Never want to be like papa, Working for the boss ev'ry night and day. I need a love to keep me happy, I need a love, baby won't ya keep me happy. Baby, won't ya keep me happy. Baby, please keep me I need a love to keep me happy, I need a love to keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy. Never got a flash out of cocktails, When I got some flesh off the bone. Never got a lift out of Lear jets, When I can fly way back home. I need a love to keep me happy, I need a love to keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy. 1) Rocks Off *** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lNP-x94-SE 2) Rip This Joint * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NehZl_X3hjQ 3) Shake Your Hips * live - THE ROLLING STONES/Shake Your Hips - YouTube 4) Casino Boogie ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXaqbdwI3Dc 5) Tumbling Dice *** live - Rolling Stones - Tumbling Dice (From "Ladies & Gentlemen" DVD & Blu-Ray) - YouTube 6) Sweet Virginia *** audio - The Rolling Stones - Sweet Virginia [HQ] - YouTube 7) Torn And Frayed ** audio - The Rolling Stones - Torn and Frayed - YouTube 8) Sweet Black Angel ** audio - The Rolling Stones - Sweet Black Angel - YouTube 9) Loving Cup ** audio - The Rolling Stones - Loving Cup - YouTube 10) Happy *** live - Rolling Stones - Happy (From "Ladies & Gentlemen") - YouTube 11) Turd On The Run * audio - The Rolling Stones - Turd on the Run - YouTube 12) Ventilator Blues ** audio - The Rolling Stones - Ventilator Blues - YouTube 13) I Just Want To See His Face * audio - The Rolling Stones - I Just Want to See His Face - YouTube 14) Let It Loose ** audio - The Rolling Stones - Let It Loose - YouTube 15) All Down The Line ** live - The Rolling Stones, All Down The Line 1972 - YouTube 16) Stop Breaking Down ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnDpW5vpbDY 17) Shine A Light ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPbozLRU3so 18) Soul Survivor ** audio - The Rolling Stones - Soul Survivor - YouTube 3's - 4 2's - 10 1's - 4 Grade - 2.0 so many albums, so little time What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 14-02-2012 saw the documentary on this album/period in their lives the other week on a channel, pretty sure it was called exile on main street?!....didnt like the majority of the songs but the archival studio footage was good to see...as it is with any band rehearsing etc... love Tumblin' Dice though What Are You Listening To? - jroknbok - 15-02-2012 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:saw the documentary on this album/period in their lives the other week on a channel, pretty sure it was called exile on main street?!....didnt like the majority of the songs but the archival studio footage was good to see...as it is with any band rehearsing etc... Idk if we're thinking of the same film but I saw the "Shine A Light" documentary directed by Martin Scorcese which was about The Stones playing a benefit concert at the Beacon Theatre. It was filmed a few years ago I believe. I thought it was fantastic. Especially the guest they had come out like Buddy Guy and Jack White |
