Robert Moog (Ph D Engineering Physics) died on this day in 2005 â he was 74.
He invented the first ever polyphonic music synthesizer, the Moog, which literally turned the music industry on its ear
mile:. A number of honorary doctorates followed, along with the formation of a few Moog related companies, and thereâs even an annual Moogfest.Some quotes from those who should know: -
âFor the first time you could go on [stage] and give the guitarist a run for his money ... a guitarist would say, 'Oh shoot, he's got a Minimoog', so they're looking for eleven on their volume control â it's the only way they can compete. [It] absolutely changed the face of music.â

By all accounts, Keith Emerson was the first muso to use a Moog live, on stage, he borrowed one for a The Nice concert - later progressing on to building up his renowned Monster Moogs â pity the poor roadies!! His enthusiasm and willingness to experiment with the equipment made him instrumental in its development, and he was given prototypes to play with, such as the âApolloâ which made its debut on ELPâs Brain Salad Surgery, on this adapted classic (which, incidentally, was banned from radio airplay at the time) â¦

from memory she played the casino in Sun City for a couple of years....
