“So Close and Yet So Far Away” from Deep Cuts by Strawbs. The critics lambasted the album for being rather cheesy, and granted, there are some deep blue veins running through this one, but IMHO they always redeem themselves; and besides, who doesn’t like a nice piece of Stilton now and then?!

This clip initially looks like a visual interpretation of a joke … “the gypsy, the mariachi, the monk and the cossack …” lol!! Mathias Duplessy is the Mariachi dude, except he’s not – he’s actually French, and it’s him doing that Mongolian throat singing you can hear too, although the Mongolian is on the far right; that’s why it’s called world music! Fabulous stuff. Will be exploring this a bit more …. The album is Crazy Horse, the artists Duplessy & the Violins of the World (Aliocha Regnard, Guo Gan and EPI, aka Enkhjargal Dandarvaanchig).

here's that Cliff Richard Christmas tune for you bob_32...
im not a big fan of Cliff by any means,
ive always found him to be too "sickly sweet" and "mr.goody two shoes" for my liking (same as Olivia Newton John)
but I do love this this Yuletide tune from him:

Well, here's the amazing Mr Blunstone, admittedly not from Argent's In Deep, but the same song from The Zombie's Breathe Out, Breathe In, which is even more special IMHO! Jeez, he's so much older ....

That Cliff Richard song is not bad, but it does not do much for me either.

Interesting that you mention Cliff and Olivia in the same paragraph; if memory serves me correctly, one followed the other in the number 1 spot on our local charts, Olivia with "Physical", and Cliff with "Wired For Sound".

When Cliff wants to, he can really rock, but that seems a rarity these days.

"Crazy Horse". What a dumb name. Who would pick that for a name?

and speaking of Crazy Horse....their debut album was superb,
yes, its the same band Neil Young uses from time to time in the studio and live...
they wrote and recorded this one first, Mr Stewart's hit version was a cover of it...

"cunctis diebus vitae tuae ut discas" - that's surprisingly news...
I first heard it performed by Everything but the girl and it got stuck to me immediately. Later I heard Rod's version and found it quite OK.
And now I've found out that it belong to none of them... and I actually found this version better than Rod's - liked it a lot. But EBTG version is still no 1 to me - maybe I'm not willing to let go of my prosperous youth yet Smile

Jesus, her voice is like whipped cream to the ice cream, newly sharped nails to your itching back and like yet another ABBA set box to your already complete music shelf... just amazing
Didn't know the history before yesterday and it was really sad reading of her problems that eventually ended her life at the age of 33...
