What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 23-05-2012 Music Head Wrote:Glee is done for the season thank you MH.....for making me choke on my cigarette whilst reading this post!!!!! What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 23-05-2012 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:thank you MH.....for making me choke on my cigarette whilst reading this post!!!!! hell, I do that after every drag of these roll-your-owns I take anymore but their so damn good with coffee What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 24-05-2012 Rick Wakeman - A Criminal Record - one of his best. To be followed by 'White Rock'. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 24-05-2012 from my library (vinyl) Album #22 and his candle burned out long before his legend ever did. Wow, that was a cool line. How do I come up with this stuff? Captain Fantastic was Elton's last great album for me, but I was still hanging on waiting on that return to form, still waiting. One great song on this one in Amazes Me for which the clip includes two tracks. That seemed to be about par for me with Elton's later releases. One or two great tracks and then blah. Surprising to see that his first UK #1 single came from here with Sacrifice, taking the album to #1 also. Not so hot here at #23 for the album and #18 for that single. Two other singles of Healing Hands and Club At The End Of The Street which is probably my second favorite. Only one track I don't care for at all, Stones Throw From Hurtin'. An ok album, but nothing close to early Elton. Same goes for Bernie who is just out of words. Elton and Bernie both say this album is a tribute to the soul sounds of the 60's and 70's. Not sure what soul they were listening to, but nothing here sounds like any soul I heard from that period. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Stones Throw From Hurtin' Best Track - Amazes Me You're a cool little one My dark southern breeze Sweeps through my fingers And it amazes me Dixie shadowland Your envy shelters me Lay down your burden Mystery of ebony And it amazes me Oh it amazes me Maybe the heat babe could be this tune It amazes me It amazes me What drives me crazy is that big fat yellow moon Look up that pale light Well she's waking the trees I'm drifting in your hoodoo And it amazes me That magnolia state Got a hold on me I got no blues to preach Just Mississippi company Ain't no magic potion No gri-gri on her side She's bound to my salvation Sweet little mama Take me down by the river tonight And it amazes me 1) Durban Deep ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viZW8Rv_yLU 2) Healing Hands ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEJxSrblQMs 3) Whispers ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL_uItHQJyU 4) Club At The End Of The Street ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rng0KRQJtJc 5) Sleeping With The Past ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6eFjkezIfw 6) Stones Throw From Hurtin' * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6JaTOpdXEo 7) Sacrifice ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrLkTZrPZA4&ob=av2e 8) I Never Knew Her Name ** 9) Amazes Me *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8kXZ486Cvk 10) Blue Avenue ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8kXZ486Cvk 3's - 1 2's - 8 1's - 1 Grade - 2.0 so many albums, so little time What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 24-05-2012 ok... i obviously like this one a lot better than you MH...pretty sure when i did it a long time ago that it got around 2.4 with Sacrifice as my favourite track, cant remember if your worst track or Club At The End Of The Street got worst track??? the double "A" side hit Healing Hands/Sacrifice was incidently his first solo #1 hit in the UK...amazing fact considering the great tunes he had in the 1970s and early 1980s! |
