championing the unheralded--an ongoing thread - ZeusMoose - 23-05-2014 jazzboCR Wrote:An updating to the Bill Nelson canon, though even this only takes you up to 10 years ago. One is a compilation album, the other a 2-CD grouping of 2 separate though intertwined discs: That's funny , because neither Whimsy nor Chameleon are among my favorites , but I'm a picky SOB ! He's got some digital download cd's up on Bandcamp too . CDs of his I do like a lot a are too numerous to mention. The thing I learned about his music is that there is always a surprise waiting , and never what you expect (the nature of a surprise) . Best to just start collecting and don't stop. Back around 1995 I stumbled upon his Practically Wired cd , and I also picked up guitar again myself , after 20 years off. Between working on my own stuff and gathering Bill's cds , my big obsession with finding other music I loved came mostly to a standstill for a number of years . To me , it's almost to the point where I look at my music list and there's 'Bill Nelson' , and there's 'Everybody Else' . Kind of pathetic (LOL) but his music really is almost that important to me . championing the unheralded--an ongoing thread - jazzboCR - 23-05-2014 Badfinger The original hard-luck band, with some good early stuff from Paul McCartney. He's got 10 albums on his own + 5 more with Bill LLoyd, and with another coming out soon (his first in 5 years). A Nashville stalwart who chucked all the trappings to come home (his first solo disc has his birthdate and place as a title). A different, sometimes hard-nosed take on love, living and such.
