Here's a good example of their sound:

They remind me of Talking Heads.

Im_over_there Wrote:I must agree with both of those statements.

And I'm sorry rap hurts you, Jerome.... I'm surprised people talking as fast as they can isn't appealing to you!

Ha, ha, ha - I am a very slow talker & even a slower typist, but I see what you mean.

Rap is just a complete no-no for me. I cannot see the attraction at all. Music has to breathe - highs, lows, fast, slow, busy, sparse etc. etc. Rap just does not have that, and the lyrics just put me off. Generally very crude and just trying to get one sentence to rhyme with another without building the dialogue/story/flow of the song. Sorry but it does not require any great skill (other than talking fast) to create rap lyrics. Songwriting is an artform. Rap is an urban fad. And as for the 'music' - a standard copy and paste 'beat' which never varies, punctuated by the occasional 'yo' from some 'producer' who does not understand what musical dynamics are or how to use them to effect. The 'music' part of it is normally characterized by a couple of notes on a synth - again repeated ad nauseam (this is to brainwash the public into remembering the same irritating ditty). I am dreading the day someone comes up with a 'rap-opera'. I am sure it will happen one day - surprised no-one has thought of it yet. Or at least I have not heard of one. Rap does not really require any musical skills other than the ability to push a button once in a while on a midi controller keyboard. But above all else it just fails to move me emotionally or intellectually. End of sermon! OK you can all load your guns and take aim now LOL.
