i guess that at the end of the day...one billion album sales cant be wrong.
IMO, the only sets of Presley that people would need on cd would be:
"the complete '50s masters".....contains just about everything he recorded in the 1950s from his fisrt recording of "my happiness" onwards
"the complete 60s masters".....contains everything essential from the decade excluding his movie soundtracks
"the complete 70s masters"....contains all of his singles from that decade,a good selection of album tracks and lots of live recordings.
around 100 tracks on each 5cd set....and from a fan's point of view, covers just about everything that i'd consider "essential" inhis career.
