+1 is a term of applause used on forums when someone likes your post or what you share in your post.. It's also called Karma..
On some forums, in 24 hours one can Karma the same person only once.
Also some forums have an option of Smite which is the opposite of applaud.. it's -1..

Nope, poking is pathetic & pointless.... But karma is fun..
Well for one thing it isn't mindless.. One would only karma someone when he deserves..
For Eg:- I would smite that David guy for picking Madonna's version of American Pie over Mclean.
