Im new here and agree with the angle your coming from. R&B on it's own is a genre based on relationships, love or sexual connotations and like you said, in a very clever way. I love and R&B music alot and as you mentioned, nowadays the representation of women in the music videos by most singers is quite derogatory unfortunately. Naturally 7 are quite a unique R&B group with their vocals being of great quality and distinct pitch which sort of explains the suggestion of a seperate world of R&B in itself. Younger generations have been heavily influenced by the visuals from other genres like Rap which is different to R&B although does have a collective history with R&B.
