What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 13-11-2011 "infidels" is a classy album...all star band lineup also lyrically, his best effort IMO.... What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 13-11-2011 mtthwibrahim Wrote:^ That comment wasn't meant as a slam on i will check out TC's "dancing girl" over the next couple of days Matt..... ok, maybe your comments were misinterperated....could be due to either the the way you express it or the way i took it after some of the other negative stuff you have written...either way glad you have explained your comments...thanks What Are You Listening To? - mtthwibrahim - 29-11-2011 Bridges-Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson Very good album, but I just liked Gil better without Brian. All that organ, it keeps Gil's lyrics from having quite the same impact. Still, really enjoyable What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 13-12-2011 from my library (cd) Brought this along on the HorseHead road trip. I wanted some rap representation and my collection is weak. CH was not impressed, nor was I. Not sure we even made it through it. Must have bought this for the only thing I love on it, Pop Goes The Weasel, just can't help but sing along with that chorus. Some other good songs, but turns into a don't like with all of the filler between tracks. Those really shouldn't be considered as songs, but they list them as a track, so they will be considered as such. That garbage plus the inclusion of remixes of two tracks drags it down to a just miss as a like. Six of the twenty three tracks make up that garbage. Leaving those off I might have liked this. The trio only made two albums and an ep. The Pop Goes The Weasel hit was a jab at fellow rapper Vanilla Ice, which made it all the more fun. Everybody liked to poke fun at the first successful white rapper. Ironic in that two members of 3rd Bass are white also. They remind me of both De La Soul and Arrested Development in parts. The album reached #19 US and #46 UK with the single of Pop Goes The Weasel ##29 US and #64 UK. Could have been a good album minus all of the nonsense tracks. I LOVE THIS ALBUM. rating: 2.4 the only link im posting is the Grammy version of Stan with Elton John on vocals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZY2p7oE7Bpw live What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 20-12-2011 ![]() D-12 "devil's night" cd,2001. the debut set from the 'dirty dozen'... a group of six rappers who grew up on 8-mile in Detroit...the most famous of the sextuplet is none other than Eminem, the 'dozen' comes into it as they use their names and ficticious personas also, making them twelve charaters. Eminem and his hommies formed a pact in their days battling in underground rap battles in dingy Detroit clubs that whoever makes it big first wolud help the others onto stardom...obviously it was Slim shady who made it and he stuck to the agreement. this album was released hot on the heels of Eminem's "marshall mathers lp", thus it was always going to be a hit, which it was. the album contains all the hallmarks of an Eminem album(especially the early ones)..plenty of those humorous little skits to link songs, lots of profanities and songs degrading women, glorifying alcohol and illicit substances....only a lot more in your face than Eminems solo efforts. there's also the usual name dropping and insulting other famous people. several songs are quite funny, others are very dark and depressing. one track i dont like, eight i like and five i adore immensely(these are the ones i have linked for you guys to check out, my favourite one here is "aint nuthin but music"...funny as hell IMO! album rating: 2.2 from the album: aint nuthin but music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veMUDvSieMw audio with lyrics purple pills http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZB0VjkoCT8 audio with lyrics What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 20-12-2011 never heard of this love that first one second was just ok Is Em on all of the tracks? thanks for that What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 20-12-2011 Eminem features on all tracks, just that being a group effort he seems to take a back step to let the others shine a bit more.... personally, i think eminem is still the star of the group....they only made one more cd after this one, "D-12 world"...that one barely makes the pass mark..eminem's vocals get that one through. that second link for "purple pills"...that was a huge hit worldwide...had to change the name to "purple hills" to avoid all the drug references...bloody do-gooders spoil everything!!!! What Are You Listening To? - mtthwibrahim - 20-12-2011 pulling "What Color Is Love" again god, what a good album, why can't thngs like this get amassed. what is it about people to reject something like this but then make "The Joshua Tree" a huge hit |
