TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS "greatest hits" cd,2008.

never a real big fan of Petty, not sure why though, love his "full moon fever" album and the stuff he did as part of Travelling Willburys", seen him live on two occasions also,once on a solo tour and once back in the mid eighties when The Heartbreakers toured as backing band of Dylan and were also support act on the same tour...
think of Petty as a "not bad singles guy" rather than an albums guy overall,
not much of his early material that i love, moreso, the post 1986 work that was produced by Jeff Lynne, was initially thinking the score would come in around the borderline love(2.3-2.4), but not to be,but a reasonably good score nonetheless

Another case of better live!!!!..some artists are better live than in the studio,,,maybe they all are????..that's why I prefer live albums and DVDs. Petty played here a few days ago and put on a fabulous live show from all accounts! I didn't go as I really am not a big fan of his...every time I hear him I think of Bob Dylan for some reason.....who I am a big fan of!!!!!

I like this band! The vocalist has that English(British) brogue style voice. No problem getting the link up here in Nova Scotia! Noticed that the drummer wore a RUSH t shirt...another great Canadian band!!!...thanks Penny Lane !

Nice to hear Steven before he cheapened himself. One of rocks greatest screamers. With the size of that mouth, it
had to emit something great. Gene Simmons tongue could fit in there twice. If not for the two covers on here, would
love this one. Those bring it down a bit. A super group shouldn't cover a super group, as with Come Together. Only
thing worse is trying to do a classic girl group like the Shangri-Las with Remember. Other than those, a fine album,
considering the scant 10 tracks. Slim for a super group greatest package, but this was before cd's took over. Even
so, this covers the groups first six albums and falls short of a good view of those early years. The compilation has
become the groups best selling album, going what they call diamond status with 11 million copies sold. Walk This Way
has always been my favorite from those early years, and I always hated the Run DMC slaughtering. And Big Ten Inch
Record should have been on here.
