The Moodies third album and firmly on the path that they are best known for. Along with the album covers which were
some of the best being done at the time. They always opened up into a double wide, suitable for framing. This is a
concept album about the search for spirituality or some such crap. I never could grasp that stuff. Not spirituality,
concept albums. They were always just songs for me. Very good ones here, loving six of the eleven tracks and nothing
I don't like. Full of the beautiful harmonies, trading off for lead. Everybody got involved with the Moodies. Two
singles came off here, Ride My See-Saw and Voices In The Sky, neither doing that well. The album had a #5 showing in
the UK, but the US was slower to catch on with only a #23 for this one. It would be a few years for the Moodies to
peak here. Stupid americans.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN "the river" cd,1980.

'brilliant' is the only word that sums up this one IMO...
Bruce at his best IMO,well, along with 'nebraska' and 'wrecking ball' anyway...
some great story telling on this double set, one of only a handful of double albums that i can say is fantastic...
a complete range of emotions here from joy,hope,sadness etc...
a complete range of styles also, from good old fashioned rockers(sherry baby),through great character songs(the river,independence day), ballads,pop(hungry heart) through to great songs with simplistic lyrics(cadillac ranch)...the list just goes on and on...
the only problem i have with the album is that it ends!, just wish it would go on and never end.
this album is also one of only two that i give a perfect score of 3.0 to(the other is Neil Young's "tonight's the night")...total class from go to woe, rock and roll perfection!

Not as good as the first one, yet still worth having. Only platinum compared to Vol. 1, which went 9 times. Covers
material from '75 thru '01. A few I had never heard, one great one, from the movie Teachers. Don't remember seeing
that. That song and five other love tracks make this a nice companion to Vol 1. Never mind the two tracks that
sucked, Shakedown (Beverly Hills Cop II and Bobs only #1 song) and Tomorrow (2001). A duet with Martina McBride
which I had never heard, on Chances Are. I was expecting to hear Johnny Mathis. I've always preferred Seger's ballad
type material and the only exception to that here is Rock 'n' Roll Never Forgets, a great anthem for us elderly
rockers. Favorite here is Fair Lake with a nice vocal back up by some Eagles. The album made #23 on the chart here,
compared to #8 for volume 1, released 10 years earlier.
