Some nice alternativey pop-rock. Shame these guys only did one album before calling it quits. Fun and catchy stuff. Smile

Peter Gabriel - Music from the movie 'Rabbit Proof Fence'. The man is an enigma.

Forever Changes-Love

Poetry of a disturbed mind set to lush melodies with blistering psychedelic overtones. Sorry, but anyone who dislikes this album is horrible

What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 14-07-2012

picked out two albums to listen to today, both 'classic r & r, and both 'live' sets...,
no ratings given for these as live albums rarely live up to expectations....Neil Young's "live rust" and "weld" are an impossible benchmark for anyone to attain!

JOHN FOGERTY "premonition" cd,1988.

pretty much a career spanning live set featuring CCR and solo material,
not a bad set, but as usual, the live recordings lack the spark of the original tracks, especially the CCR material, Fogerty's vocals do falter at times but overall, not a bad live set for a Fogerty completist to own...

PAUL McCARTNEY "tripping the live fantastic" cd,1990

a double live set from the US tour of that year of release...
plenty of Beatle,Wings and solo tracks on this 34 track set...Macca is in fine form for the most part but falters on the parts he needs to hold notes on for an extended period(must be an age thing?)
nowhere near as good as the triple album "over america" from the mid 1970s, but pretty good set overall. even the tracks from his then current studio album "flowers in the dirt" stand up well alongside the classics, which i guess proves he still had "it" as a writer that late in his career...
tracks like "eleanor rigby" and "things we said today" are nice additions to the album as he tends not to play those on a consistant basis live.

Shawn Phillips - Transcendence. Very classy production on this one. Written after he nearly died in a boating incident. The lyrics reflect his thoughts about this and how fragile life is.

Led Zep - the new version of 'The Song Remains The Same' with added/bonus tracks. As a live act this band was just way ahead of anything else at the time. Superb!!!!!! Page and Bonham are just unbelievable on this.

An update on this as I am listening to it. Yes I know Stairway to Heaven is an overplayed rock song, but it is so great to hear this live version again - God this takes me back. Bloody wonderful to experience this again.

Mike Batt - Waves. The best musical interpretation of actual waves I have ever heard. This guy should have got a lot more recognition for his works than he actually did.

What Are You Listening To? - Punter - 15-07-2012

I am listening to a recording of an FM broadcast of the band Squeeze from an Oct., 1985 show in London. Not really the type of stuff I typically listen to (although I am not sure if any one artist I like could truly be considered typical), and far from the hippest thing I might be listening to, but there it is.

What Are You Listening To? - Mrrusty1 - 15-07-2012

yeah i agree i love lou reed too
SteveO Wrote:I agree MH ! ...I like Reed's style so all of his material is good IMHO...New York is another gem by him as well as a few others. Just my opinion..his live album from Montreal is very good.

The Moodies third album and firmly on the path that they are best known for. Along with the album covers which were
some of the best being done at the time. They always opened up into a double wide, suitable for framing. This is a
concept album about the search for spirituality or some such crap. I never could grasp that stuff. Not spirituality,
concept albums. They were always just songs for me. Very good ones here, loving six of the eleven tracks and nothing
I don't like. Full of the beautiful harmonies, trading off for lead. Everybody got involved with the Moodies. Two
singles came off here, Ride My See-Saw and Voices In The Sky, neither doing that well. The album had a #5 showing in
the UK, but the US was slower to catch on with only a #23 for this one. It would be a few years for the Moodies to
peak here. Stupid americans.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - House Of Four Doors (Part 2)

Best Track - The Best Way To Travel

And you can fly
High as a kite if you want to
Faster than light if you want to
Speeding through the universe
Thinking is the best way to travel

It's all a dream
Light passing by on the screen
And there's you and I on the beam
Speeding through the universe
Thinking is the best way to travel

We ride the waves
Distance is gone, will we find out?
How life bean, will be find out?
Speeding through the universe
Thinking is the best way to travel

And you can fly
High as a kite if you want to
Faster than light if you want to
Speeding through the universe
Thinking is the best way to travel
