Borrowed this one from my daughter. Her taste is not as good as mine, but occasionally she comes through. Had not really listened to much Pink before. I had heard her, but never really listened to her if you know what I mean. Once I put aside my underwear dancer bias, there are some great songs on here. Pulled from three different albums, plus two new tunes thrown in to make the fanatics purchase it. Love eight songs out of the sixteen on this album. With that many standouts, the favorite is tough, but gotta go with Family Portrait. Very powerful message with an emotional delivery, chill type. The two new songs on here are Raise Your Glass and F**kin' Perfect going to #1 and #2 on the charts. I prefer the second one. Can't say there is anything on here I did not like but Dear Mr. President comes closest. The album reached #5.

Family Portrait is by far Pink's best song to date MH
we must be on the same wavelength again, we're both listening to pop/dance at the moment, you with Pink, me with the new "foster the people" album...i'll post what i think of it tomorrow, but it sounds pretty good so far,and it makes a pleasant change from all the Neil Young albums over the last couple of weeks!...im just about all "neiled out"

Perfect title for a Madonna compilation.
Queen Madge's compilation, released in 1990, contains the best from the first seven years of her career.
If you have a place in your heart for '80s Pop/Dance, this will be a delight. Great songs from start to finish.
Madge could be dismissed as triumph of style over substance, but her taking control of things so early, her ability to surround herself with the pick of collaborators, some very smart decions, and a lot of hard work convince me otherwise...
The Celebration collection from 2009 is probably a more definitive compilation, but the majority of the material on that is on The Immaculate Collection.
AllMusic 5/5 stars.

GRAND FUNK RAILROAD - BOSNIA
This live album was a surprise to me ! GFR are one of those bands that I got hooked on in my late teens and I like to revisit them once in awhile for nostalgia's sake. Good crowd participation on this one , especially on Closer to Home.

LILY ALLEN "its not me,its you" 2009,cd. #1 UK, #2 AU, #5 US.
this is the second album by London's Allen.
i only bought it because it was on special but thought it would be worth it for the four tracks that were singles but it has turned out to be a good album, there is pop tinged with country material on this one and a couple of crooner type tracks, all with slightly humourous, offbeat lyrics similar to the mega hit "not fair". and all the tracks put a slant on the trials and tribulations of what its like to be a late teenage girl...apparently???
there are some real nice melodies and tunes on this one,and the girl has a pleasant enough voice to be able to listen to the cd in full, and she's not too shabby in the looks department either.

Well folks the secret is out ! Music Head asked me who my favorite Canadian artist was and I pondered over the question for quite awhile ! Actually one of the toughest and soul searching questions I've ever had posed to me. I could of responded with my standard reply - I don't lilke best or favorites lists and I like lots of Canadian artists..... but not this time !
Finally in the end I used the criteria of what Canuck(slang for Canadian)artist moves me or gives me chills time and time again ? The answer surprisingly folks is ....Celine Marie Claudette Dion...bar none !
This live set is packed with Celine's powerhouse vocals from her breathtaking version of All By Myself to River Deep Mountain High and the finale My Heart Will Go On. She is Canada's all time top selling artist, second female artist in U.S. sales, the only female singer to sell more than one million copies of a single twice in the UK, the top selling French artist of all time and the tenth best selling artist in history !
Dion's voice has been described as technical virtuosity yet with raw emotion. She has a five octave range.
Check her out sometime if you haven't already. I'm going to listen to her more than 20 albums more intently from now on !

Celine has a fantastic voice SteveO, but over the years she has been played to death on local radio stations, thus i cant bare to listen to her at the moment, that will change over time though...radio did the same thing with "born in the usa" album and "brothers in arms", took me years to revisit them....my solution to that is to listen to a different station at work everyday to avoid repeativity in playlists and so far it is working!!!

I never listen to radio music only talk radio so I'm saved. We only have mainstream music radio in this neck of the woods so there's no sense in listening. I find that when I listened to radio music I ended up changing the station continually so I stopped listening.
I am contemplating satellite radio ? I hear it's incredible.
