What Are You Listening To? - Quaalude - 05-11-2012 I own their album from (2007) Super Hits. The only song that I can actually tolerate listening to by them recently is Play The Game Tonight. Kansas is really one of the only "true" (U.S.) progressive rock band from the 70s PR era. Most of the mega prog. bands from that particular era are either from the UK or Canada (Rush). Its not that I don't respect what Kansas has accomplished as a band and their music. I really cant explain it, I guess that their music just doesn't do anything for me anymore. mile:
What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 05-11-2012 I agree with your comment on Annie Haslam, Music Head . I have a vinyl copy also and I must revisit it! Music Head Wrote:from my library (vinyl) What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-11-2012 on Music Head's post... not a bad track(your favourite), i probably wouldnt buy an album of theirs though...pretty sure Dani would like this(she may have a disc of theirs somewhere though, i have to check!) What Are You Listening To? - Mrrusty1 - 06-11-2012 fleetwood mac with peter green the green manalishi i just love those guitar riffs i can see where wishbone ash might have got their sound from lol What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 07-11-2012 from my library (vinyl) These guys are just so weird. First time I saw them was doing something from Kimono My House. Still my favorite Sparks album. This one not quite as good, but it's up there. Followed them for a long time and they are still kicking, though now they are more into the techno/dance scene. Another group that was one of my favorites, yet never caught on. This is the groups fifth album and it could only manage a #169 chart showing here. The UK seemed to liked them more with a #18 there. Get In The Swing and Looks, Looks, Looks were singles but neither fared that well. Love three tracks and like everything else. The Mael brothers almost always deliver for me. Watching the deadpan look of Russell was almost as enjoyable as the music. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - In The Future Best Track - Looks, Looks, Looks 1) Hospitality On Parade *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSBNE9qnLaI 2) Happy Hunting Ground ** 3) Without Using Hands ** 4) Get In The Swing ** - the crowd has no idea what to do with this live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYecJKX2Z2Y 5) Under The Table With Her ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrBvpzOONO8 6) How Are You Getting Home? ** 7) Pineapple ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbXqpG2F0uM 8) Tits *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sGgDNfnfaQ 9) It Ain't 1918 ** 10) The Lady Is Lingering ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GdEWrT2lkA 11) In The Future ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CKScdlCJK0 12) Looks, Looks, Looks *** - love the big band sound live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-PqFIx_X6A 13) Miss The Start, Miss The End ** What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-11-2012 only vaguely remember these guys from my teenage years, but dont anything by them...i was more into Mowtown/stax, Jam,clash,Pistols,Madness,Macca,Who around that time What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 08-11-2012 Strawbs - Hero & Heroine - a classic from way, way back. What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 10-11-2012 FOXY SHAZAM - The Church of Rock and Roll (released on my daughter's birthday, 24 January 2012) ![]() After repeated listenings this is one of those rare albums in which I like all the tracks ! Foxy Shazam's fourth studio album The Church of Rock and Roll is an absolute gem ! There's everything on here...glam rock, soul, hard rock, folk rock, retro rock and even a radio single with the DJ commenting after the track is over. The six man band from Cincinnati, Ohio have struck gold with this one ! I think most members here at MD will love this record ! SOUND SAMPLES for all 11 tracks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeyKsWyhHG8 - Welcome to the Church of Rock and Roll http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rz4I69mQMo - I Like It http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHiwn08vNRQ - Last Chance at Love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2QH9fpJSgw - Holy Touch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T15rm7MZGp0 - Forever Together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKo5WK0liUs - (It's) Too Late Baby http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4oo92hV_MQ - I Wanna Be Yours http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qcp7lVTdZnM - Wasted Feelings http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5n6Ha9REv8w - The Temple http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsFoybmEdE4 - The Streets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jedzDs1Yl-4 - Freedom What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 11-11-2012 from my library (cd) A slight decline from the previous Blood On The Tracks for me, but still a love album. Bob's seventeenth album featuring the Rolling Thunder Revue lineup and backing vocals by Ronee Blakely and Emmylou Harris. Most songs co-written with Jaques Levy who I never heard of again. Leads off with Bob's controversial defense of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter who was convicted of a murder that occurred during a robbery in 1967. Serving almost 20 years of his life conviction he was released on an appeal in 1985. Bob also drew heat over the song Joey, which was seen as glorifying the life of gangster Joey Gallo. Both of those are love tracks but my favorite is Sara, which just seems so personal it hurts. Written about his then wife who would file for divorce about a year after this album was released. The album went straight to #1 in the US and Australia, and #3 in the UK. Hurricane, in an abbreviated version was released as a single along with Mozambique, which is my least favorite track. As usual, the lack of youtube clips is mystifying. I LOVE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Mozambique Best Track - Sara 1) Hurricane *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc-5wb6asDQ 2) Isis *** 3) Mozambique ** 4) One More Cup Of Coffee ** 5) Oh, Sister ** 6) Joey *** 7) Romance In Durango ** 8) Black Diamond Bay ** 9) Sara *** 3's - 4 2's - 5 1's - 0 Grade - 2.4 allmusic - 2.6 What Are You Listening To? - Mrrusty1 - 11-11-2012 Sparks were great i have the album kimono in my house I remember the keyboard player had more than a passing resemblance to Adolf Hitler lol Music Head Wrote:from my library (vinyl) |
