What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 21-11-2012 ![]() PHIL COLLINS "going back" cd,2010. did this one as a new release when it came out...i liked it then(obviously, as i bought it!), and still do.... not a big fan of covers in general, nor am i really a fan of Phil but.... this is Collins' covers album of Motown classics.. backing muso's on here are the original house band from HitsvilleUSA... and they still know how to play that sh!t perfectly. vocally, his voice does lack some 'feel' in places, but then again he isnt black, so i guess that answers that, but all up as a covers set this is pretty darn good, especially his cover of 'papa was a rolling stone'...sublime rendition IMO and easily the best thing on here, well worth the purchase price for that one alone,in fact, that is why i bought this album LOL... sorry guys, am having trouble on youtube right now, am posting as it is with the links i have attained so far... What Are You Listening To? - Butthead - 24-11-2012 Gladius -Jingle Bell Shock Saw the music-vid on youtube Pretty nuts--especially for Christmas music! Special effects...Pyro! What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 25-11-2012 from my library (cd) vinyl cd Continuing my weekly all things Dylan posts, we are up to album #20. Bob's still on his christian road trip and it's in your face on this one. Gospel Rock with the emphasis on both. By the time the last song came around, I was expecting the collection plate to appear. Another downward trend for Bob from me. Still a good album but doesn't come close to Slow Train Coming. Nothing I love on this one and one cover that I don't like. Speaking of covers, interesting that the cd cover for this album is entirely different from the vinyl cover. Guess the vinyl was just too overt. Gotta be subtle about that religious stuff. I included both for your observation. This album was panned by the critics and the pubic too as it was his lowest chart showing here since his early days and has never even reached Gold status. The UK still gave Bob some support at #3, but #18 in Australia and #24 here were way down from his previous showing. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - A Satisfied Mind Best Track - Pressing On 1) A Satisfied Mind * 2) Saved ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxpIdN6Jwzo 3) Covenant Woman ** 4) What Can I Do For You ** 5) Solid Rock ** 6) Pressing On ** 7) In The Garden ** 8) Saving Grace ** 9) Are You Ready ** 3's - 0 2's - 8 1's - 1 Grade - 1.9 allmusic - 1.2 |
