Sijay's New Songs with Modern Neo-Soul and R&B Music Flare off of New Album Detroit Club
[Image: websitephoto.jpg]Combining his musical background with the urban lifestyle of Chicago, singer-songwriter Sijay has paved the way for his desire to make music outside the typical guidelines. He has allowed himself to perfectly merge musical genres to create music that is in a league of its own.

In addition to producing all of his own music as well as music for other artists, he writes all the lyrics, melodies and even scores the horn parts! He has been said to be a mixture between Brian Wilson and Todd Rundgren.

You can’t really associate Sijay with one genre. He incorporates Neo-Soul and R&B, with a Blues and Jazz influence. His lyrics compliment the groovy yet edgy sound he achieves. Transitioning from his last record, Sijay has established his musical talent.

Check out the Pulse Magazine full page feature article for more intimate info on Sijay

To celebrate his new album “Detroit Club” and the upcoming holidays, his label is giving away the full length lead single, titled “Detroit Club”, when you sign up for Sijay’s newsletter. To get your free download, Click here and hear for yourself!

What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 10-01-2013

Here's a band from SA way back when. They never really hit the big time except in SA. Don't really like most of their stuff except this one track - Hard Ride - Love the violin and guitars on this one. Guitarist is Trevor Rabin (Yes 90125) and the violinist is his father. BTW there's a delay before this starts playing. Give it a whirl.

JIMMY BARNES "soul deeper:songs from the deep south" cd,2000.

ive always been a fan of Jimmy, right from his Cold Chisel days through the first decade and a half of his solo career...
i have his "soul deep" album, which mainly consists of 1960s R&B material which isnt too shabby, so when volume II came out i had to get it...wishing i hadnt though...
lots of R&B/soul classics on here...not sure that the title "songs from the deep south" is entirely accurate as "to love somebody" was written by the brothers Gibb, maybe he justifies it by saying theyt were from thedeep south beyond the equator???...and "all the young dudes", thats Bowie, did he come from the deepest part of south London by chance????
i really expected more from this rough and ready, gravelly voiced vocalist on these hard edged tracks, i guess i expected more of a Wilson Picket or Otis Redding sound, but alas, by this time Barnes' vocal chords had probably endured too much trauma from decades of downing straight vodka and Bourbon, thus, instead of having a solid strong rugged voice he is screeching/screaming way too much to get the feel happening here, and it doesnt work...that said, the music is played genuinely authentic.
four
of the five tracks i like only just make the grade, only the favourite is really a genuine "like", which isnt very good considering there are 17 tracks here!
and only a couple of links available,my favourite is not one of them??!!

I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

I was cheated
It cut off at 4:33
but I still listened to the full 8:35
thought it might be a hidden track
yes I like the violin

Seen this clip CH. We used to get people in the UK to send us VHS tapes of Spitting Image. No sweat - I enjoyed it. Years ago my mom was in the UK and almost got arrested for kicking up a fuss when she saw a sign in a restaurant that said ' No dogs or South Africans allowed'. Kid you not! It's also quite ironic that in football in the UK these days the word thrown about all the time is 'racism'. The chicken has come home to roost.........
